The reason I am going mail order are
- Its a daily driver, im not to concerned about getting every last KW out of it
- The price, I cant justfy an extra $500 for a tune locally.
- An oztrack mailorder tuned cars have the numbers on the board already.
Cheers
Ben
Custom "on the dyno" editing is not all about just getting every last rwkw out of it, but also
tailoring the fueling and timing maps to get the best throughout the operating range for a
particular vehicle.
We look at things like idle quality, part throttle driveability, cruise fuel consumption as well as peak power.
There is nothing fundamentally wrong with Steve's tunes, and I'm sure he will agree that
some amount of tailoring to one of his mail order tunes will usually net better results.
Not because he cannot tune, but because in the real world there are many variables that come into play
making each vehicle unique.
The difference in cost is usually the dyno time required to make sure the tune you have is
suited to your particular vehicle.
In the case of tunes; as with shoes, one size doesn't fit all.
If money is the issue, then I would recommend an Oztrack tune over any other mail order as his tunes will be about right and not too far off the mark in most cases.
