You dont seem to really know whats been done to the motor so I would suggest rebuilding it. Start with a set of forged Wiseco pistons and lower the CP. Forged REV rods. Get the engine balanced. Use a multilayer steel headgasket. Get the head ported out. Bigger valves. Greedy inlet manifold. 6BOOST turbo manifold. Garrett GT42/45. 50mm wastegate. 4" exhaust. Blitz drag intercooler, 3" plumbing. Upgrade your computer to a Motec M800. Now you should be right to run about 30psi. If you find its a little bit laggy it might be a good idea to use a 300HP shot of NOS or setup the MOTEC to run drag anti-lag.

Be sure to setup Launch control, traction control and flatshift!..

Your TELSTAR sounds like the first of the 2.0 CFI TURBO configuration.
CFI stands for CENTRAL FUEL INJECTION.
It is basically a SEALED THROTTLE BODY with 2 SIDE FEED FUEL INJECTORS mounted inside,each injector is positioned above each of the 2 throttle butterflys.
YOU WILL NEED MORE THAN JUST THE INLET MANIFOLD and ECU OFF THE 2.2 12VALVE TX5 TURBO ENGINE to do this mod im affraid.

first thing id be doing is dump this car and get something worth modifying, look at it this way

pour all your cash on an old busted engine = waste of money


i dont know mazda 4 banger engines, but try something newer??, i think theres a 2.2 INjected turbo engine still at cairns car wreckers,

speak to andrew, i remember pulling some parts off this out of a MX5 turbo 1992 model

if its not there, then thats something i would try using, try get one of those, if not go something like a SR20 fwd front cut :P

at the end of the day its still a ford telstar so do what you wish
