Hi guys; Here's a quick update from last nights meeting, The Springmount Drag Racing Association has got a submission into council for approval being for the construction of a drag strip on the Atherton Tablelands, they are in the process of fore filling some additional requirements, as you can imagine with a project of this size there has/is a lot of regulatory paperwork which has to be done. The club members have worked tirelessly to get this all off the ground so there will be a purpose built facility here in Far North Queenland (on the Atherton Tablelands); where people can take there vehicle and use them in a safe controlled environment. The club is also in the progress of putting together advertising through various media sources and also a web page is under way. The next meeting will be held in Cairns on the 17th of September 2009 7:30pm the venue is yet to be determined so continue to watch for updates. An expression of interest form/paperwork will be places at a static display which the club is hoping to have setup at each of the up & coming motoring events being held in the region. What we ask from all interested persons/parties is that you pass on your details to the persons at those displays so we can keep you all up to date. The club is endeavoring to setup locations in Cairns, Atherton, Innisfail & Mareeba where in anyone who wishes to genuinely help out can drop into and show there support by becoming a financial member of the club. Membership will be $50 per year, renewable at the start of each financial year; so now is the time to show your support become a member, pass on your details and advise us of what you would be able to offer to the club. We are also looking for a suitable club logo so anyone out there handy with a computer is only to welcome to make submissions as to a possible club logo. Any further queries/questions at this time can be answer by club president Bruno Fegatilli on 0418 460512. We ask that it be kept relevant to the topic at hand as we still have along way to go and we don't want to waste time in getting it all happening. We need your support please become financial members and show you are truly behind this cause, come on a long to the meeting. Details as to where and how you can become a member and where the next meeting which will be held in Cairns will be put up in the near future any and all donations will be great fully accepted. Drag Racing Alive & Well in Far North Queensland.

I may have missed a lot of information, but:
1/4 or 1/8 mile?
$50 membership, how much to race?
What days, and how often will it be open for test and tune?
Oh and estimated time of completion?

it is definitely a andra track, they want to build the track to international standards..

as for acoustics, there is only one person in cairns that does it and he's a thief, it was cheaper for us to fly a guy from brissy get the test and fly him home than use the local guy..

i will get the number of the brissy guy we use to Bruno, or at least to Evan so he can give it to Bruno..

one big question thats been sitting on the back of my mind.. how long will it be till the track is built, also it says the membership needs to be renewed every year... will that start from when the track is built or is it goin to be likely that somepeople will probaly end up paying 2 or maybe more memberships before even beeing able to use the thing?

it means you become a financial member and you pay your yearly renewals. each year from when you join..

if you don't want to help out and become a member before it's built, keep that 50 in your pocket, but seriously whats 50 bucks when people are trying to built a international track..

i'd expect there to be about a 18-24 month build time..

seriously it's 50 bucks..

but i will put my head on the block here, my best mate is the planner doing the approvals, he is a dedicated car person, he has pulled strings and pushed hard for this to happen, i can tell you 100% this is nothing like what you think you have heard before, this is the real deal and in the end it will come down to moneuy and nothing more wink.gif

people need to dig and dig deep if they want it to happen, hell i don't earn 300k a year but i will be putting in what i can, i WILL be putting in 3 memberships 1 for me, the wife and my daughter.. 150 bucks is nothing if it helps this get off the ground.. wink.gif
