If you've got a DOHC RB30 and SOHC RB30 side by side both with identical turbo, tuned by the same competent person, etc..
1) The DOHC is going to make more torque all the way through the rev range including peak
2) The DOHC is going to bring the turbo onto boost quicker
3) The DOHC is going to make higher peak power on less boost, but more importantly it's going to make more power all the way through the rev range
4) The DOHC can rev just that little bit higher
5) The DOHC is going to have alot better streetability with bigger cams, not almost dying at idle and sacraficing fuel economy, which for those who don't read ZOOM magazine, Assad the owner of WHONXT said is non existant
6) For those that are running big turbo's and they aren't coming on full boost til after 5000rpm, it doesn't matter when you are revving through to 9000rpm
An RB26 setup on an RB30 bottom end with a set of reground cams ($350) and valvesprings ($300) with the stock RB26 6TB setup is only going to cost (if not less) what it's going to cost to go solid cam setup with a heavily worked SOHC head ($3000, as a matter a fact the SOHC JPC head costs around the $5000 mark) with a fancy inlet manifold ($1000) and fuel rail, etc and it's going to be better in pretty much stock form anyway.
According to 6BOOST an RB25 is actually cheaper then a RB30 to rebuild and to get power out of as the head flows more efficiently.
