if the 4wd cars would actually turn up and run it would be worth it, but until then they can stick the 4wd dyno's up their arse

Thats a tad harsh tongue.gif Cant make it to all events hey smile.gif

harsh maybe!! but when the 4wd boys belly ache for a 4wd dyno at ingham and they bring one there and no *look at me im swearing* uses it, you soon get over them wink.gif

if it was a in the ground setup it would be fine, but the portable one's are pox..

I realise it's not all import owners but a lot seem to belly ache about car shows and the type of cars and people that go, and they are too f**king lazy to bring their own car to a show or event dry.gif

As much as i disagree you are right "if that makes any sence"? SOME import owners are slack but what can you really do, there are always gonna be wingers no matter what style of car you drive. The older model cars have been the more popular choice of car up this way and it shows by the amount that get shown.

Ill speak for myself here but i couldnt do much when a month before ingham 3 of my 4 rods tried to exit the block and not being made of money i couldnt get it fixed in time. That shit happens i guess smile.gif

Just a quick note, if you haven't got your entry forms in for the Auto Spec, you can still do so, and it won't attract any late fees (as stated on entry form) They have waved all late fees. So it is still $40 to display (no judging) or $45 (with judging) and you get a double pass for the whole weekend with that. If you have a second car to enter it is $30 for the second one.

Unless you drive an american muscle car what's the point?

I remember one year they gave "best import" to a lancer that was built by Mitsubishi, Adelaide! [imported all the way from SA!] They have no idea what they're doing so it is a dying commodity (if you could call it that).

You're right and there was some post-event politics after previous events but I won't get in to it.

Thats a pity, I thought local clubs would support a local event. Theres heaps of stuff happening and it sounds like it should be a good weekend.

I'm sure more people would if it was a bit less one sided. The people who run and judge the event could probably name every old Ford and Dodge model but when it comes to anything else they have no idea and just tend to throw all "non-US" car into the same league.

This coupled with the fact that all you're going to see are the same cars every year and with the vandalism that has happened to cars that were left there over the weekend in previous events it already has a bad reputation.

I'm not sure you are quite aware of the situation. The show has different judges this year, and a different list of organisers.

As far as vehicle variety and different displays from previous years goes I am a little unsure.... I can't even give away free passes.

This event is run by the Cairns Show Society and as such is a money make event run by them for them. The local clubs would surport this event if they were asked to help organise it. I am aware that some club input is there but it is only from a small section of the clubs in Cairns. What organisers have to realize is that it is the entrants that make the show, no entrants= no show, charge to much to entry and no one wants to enter.

I know that the clubs involved in the Combined Car Clubs of Cairns are leaving it up to individual members to show if they wish to and are not as clubs showing, shame if you ask me.

from what I understand, by the time they pay for the Bandag Bullet, the Cunning Stunts and the Dyno, plus all other expenses, its not that much of a money making event. More like something put on for the Car Enthusiest. I for one, don't think that $40 to display is that bad, considering that it gives me full entry for the two days, plus a public car park if I need it, and entertainment for the two days. I attend Ingham every year, and it cost way more to go, considering you have fuel, camping and food to worry about. Cairns is too small of a town to start boycotts, as it will come back and bite you in the arse.

The CCCC have advise there members that as clubs they will not be entering this show. That does not stop individuals from entering as private entrants this it not a boycott of this show just the clubs individually deciding not to enter as clubs. I for one entered three cars on the first week entry was available, and these cars will be at the show.
