Ok, so I have just got a 2nd Rocky 351M amp I am curious how is the best way to wire it in. I already have 1 powering a single 12" rocky sub (old series, not new punch series). I will look at buying 2 new subs and have a single amp on each sub.

Do you just use a Y split on the RCA to goto each amp? Or the amp has a 'pass-thru' ports which I guess lets you put RCA from there to another amp?

I think I need to go see Russ Adams while I am down Townsville and get some new stereo gear! :)

Also, if anyone can do half decent boot installs for a reasonable price let me know... I need to get both amps and subs in the boot looking neat and tidy.

come on surely you're capable of some DIY!!!!!!!

For the input signal, I'd split it. Some sort of pass through may effect input impedance and have more power going to one amp and hence sub. Just a double adaptor would work, but i would personally find some cables lying around, cut them and solder together and make look pretty with some heatshrink.

As for the boot install, you can do most things with a hand saw, a drill, a jigsaw, some good glue and some self-tapping wood screws (powered saw of some type will make life much easier though).

Btw the only powered tool i used at all on my DIY speaker in my lounge room was a jigsaw for the speaker holes, not even a powered drill! (i had to do it at night so couldn't make noise normally). Ignore the paint job :D:

edit: that's weird, it posted my message twice in the one message!

I have done a bit of DIY work, but it shows! I want it to look a bit more professional. This is my old sub box (after it came crashing out my boot and finished rolling down the road a bit).

Posted Image

It fit perfectly in the boot but it won't fit anymore with the rear strut brace taking up a good portion of the boot.

Will think about that. I need it secured to the car to so it doesn't move, that is why I have no stereo now as I got sick of driving around every corner and hearing a *donk*.... *clunk*.

$200 should cover it you reckon hey including supplies etc?

I actually want to try and get in there and look at purchasing some new speakers and possibly some subs. Would be good to meet some of the staff also as well as yourself properly... not just a "HI, ok i'm going clubbin now!" haha.

I will try and get there, will give you a buzz and let you know what happens.

A set of stinger splitters would be better than soldering and looks better.

A povo but effective way to stop your sub box from moving is to srew some velcro strips to the bottom. Use the rough side and make 3 or 4 full length strips. The weight of your box will make it grip the carpet and stop it from moving.
Best part is you dont need to undo anything to get it out again. Just make sure your carpet is secure.

you have to be kidding? you think that some RCA plugs will offer a better connection that a good solder of two wires? and that doing it neatly and heat shrinked, such that it looks like something you've bought, will look worse than plugs that don't need to be there? you can do it keeping it sheilded too btw if that concerns you. plus if you have some old cables lying around it will be basically free.

yeah but stinger get there name for having decent and affordable sterio accessories,, i would personally prefer proffesionally made sterio accesories in my car lol,, if home made was so good, why would people go out and buy quality spliters for quality??

Another way to *dodgy* keep it mounted is to use that non slip matting stuff. Works really well in my car cause i need to take my sub out every now and then.

With the suspension in my car I barely need to slow down for corners, but that means quite a bit of side force when going around a corner so it can't be good over a period of time hence I want it secured.

Not sure what bd sync ports are? Don't think it does.

http://www.carreview.com/cat/car-audio/amp...05_1806crx.aspx

Description: The Rockford Fosgate 351M featuers: 175 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms, 350 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms, selectable 50-250 Hz variable low-pass crossover, 24 dB per octave, preamp-level inputs, preamp outputs (for passing signal to another amplifier), REMOTE Punch Bass boost (0-18 dB at 45 Hz).

By sounds of that the 'pass-thru' is the preamp output so should be sweet to RCA from there to the other.

Get another amp Matt, sell that one. Mono blocks are useless for systems ( splits etc. ), good for subs but underpowered for a sub amp IMO. Sell it to Rob :P

A) they're too lazy to make it themselves
B) they've never soldered before
C) if you just solder and use electrical tape it often looks dodgier
D) people like bling
