Horst already has someone doing drifting at his Mareeba track. I don't think you'll have much luck unless you've done previous events or have some "credentials" so to speak. He won't allow anyone to just go out and trash his track. I know he has a lot of pride in the venue and rightly so.

Pointless asking for who would come because people who say they will won't and those who say they won't will. There is already drifting in Cairns also.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I do think perhaps you'll find it more difficult than it seems. It's incredibly difficult to get a business to fork out the kind of money you'll be needing to run an event especially with this economic situation at the moment.

Oh, and it is sponsors. Not sponers smile.gif

Good luck and I'd support it fully if you started to get things off the ground.

I agree with Sinister I can't see Horst going for it unless you have found another location in mareeba, then it would be none of his worry. If you want to talk with us we might be able to help as we are running the Physics in Motion dRIFT School at Mako now and are happy to support events, of course they would need to be well planned and run. I doubt Horst would entertain the idea of an open drift event at Mako without consulting us. I say that because I know what we went through and what we know we are responsible for each and every time we operate drift, advanced and defensive courses at Mako. Our drift school is run a certain way to ensure we can continue to run it. We fully support serious drift programs particularly if they get drifters off the streets and into a safe environment to compete and enjoy their cars. I do suggest you speak with Sinister about last years event you might find there is a fair bit involved in running and organising them.
If you do have an alternative venue then we would happily assist.

Hey everyone I'm trying to get the drift going up in mareeba. I need numbers and a few sponers because the owner is keen we just need to show them some numbers. if we can get this drift going in mareeba the shops down here in cairns will profit from it. I'm talking about making mareeba on the series to bring top competitors up here with there sponers and money. We could even ask for support for the fact that youths as we all know can still can drive cars over 200kw on there P's its no secret but we are spending money on a car that can not be driven on the road and think about it, it lowers the risk of accidents. please give me a email at bu.soli@hotmail.com I'm keen but i can not do this on my own if your keen make this happen.
