toyota don't use numbers that make any sense..... vq45de makes sense, VQ series of motor.... 4.5 litre and dual overhead cam with electronic ignition.

All nissan engines use that syntax,

First 2 letters (VQ, SR, CA, VG, RB etc)
2 numbers (20, 25, 30, 45, etc) capactiy
D = Dual overhead cam
E = EFI
T = Turbo
TT = Twin turbo

Toyota motors have names like 1JZ-GE which is the first series of the JZ series I guess, and 2JZ which is 2nd series, but you can't figure out much from just the names like Nissan which are easy to spot even if you don't know the engine.

Nothing wrong with a single turbo V8 either lads :)

the lexus v8 is the 1uz-fe (4.0). there is also a 2uz and a 3uz. one is 4.3L the other is 4.7 i believe. awesome engine the 1uz. read of one thats running twin turbos and making approx 1500rwhp with nothing more than valve springs done internally. strapped into a gutted camira.

the guys on the lextreme forums reckon they've sorted out how to get the 4.0L 1uz out to something like 6.5L. reckon it'll rev to 10k :o whack on some twins, drop it in a old model celica shell and see what u get down the 1/4

personally myself I'd rather a supercharger on a big block V8 over a turbo, mainly for the snap U get from the supercharger where as the Turbos that do come on instantly are known to be slightly laggy. If U want a good example of a good sup setup checkout this months edition of Motor or the just check out the Bullet Roadster. saying that Turbos do work but are usually used to get through the shitty aero setups V8's usually have

the blowers are good but if you go a big sucker like a 671 you have hell issues trying to keep it street legal. Just ask blownwy. The turbos are my choice but mainly 'cause every one local says "if it's inline it gets hair dryers, if it's a V it gets blown"; and I like to be different.

In the end if its fast wo cares....... Nos it.

i've seen on a commodore forum a guy with a 3.8 litre ecotec running a supercharger and turbo.. supercharger runs till the turbo spools then switches off and the turbo takes over...

hmmm, but would one lag the other??
