So what tires does everyone use and why they like them?

Are are getting for what you pay?

A tire i found that is good traction in straight line and cheap:

for my 19's i've always used nankang on them, 245/35/19..
have recently had some sava's on my 15" rims for the drags n stuff..
they had some nice grip after a lil bit of a burnout,.. helped me along the way to a 15.5et,..

Brand: Nankang ns2's.. 245/35/19
Price: $250ea
Tire shop: beaurepaires, florence st..

sava's cost me $88 or something each from the same place..

I used to use Road Huggers 235/60/14, which gripped pretty well in a strait line. A few guys around here will vouch for that :D

I found Toyo to have the better racing compounds when your lookin at bigger size rims.. eg 18's 19's But at the moment i just use a set of Falkens but they arent cheap 235/35/19 retail for $380 each i think i was scared when i seen the price of them all together..

I have Dunlop SP3000 245/17 on the front and some Falken FK 452 265/17 on the rear and by far the best tyre combo ive ever had. I'd like to try the FK 452 on the front once the dunlops have run down.

I had P Zero's on my 180 a while ago and they stick really well, but are a pretty soft compound so don't last that long.

Got them 2nd hand for $77 each @ Cairns 2nd hand and New.

20's will look pretty big... 19's are just border line....
Anyone ever used Toyo Proxes?? I found them to be really good for traction but you dont get to much tire life out of them..

The boss said I can get a rim & tyre package for my Barina when my tyres need changing. I don't know WTF they are made of but I've been waiting 2 years. I thinks it's time to take matters into my own hands just don't know if it's got enough go to smoke em up. lol

Brand: Good Year Eagle F1 GSD3
Price: $400 each ~
Tire shop: Central tyres in Atherton ( cheaper than Brisbane prices  )
Size 235/40 18" front and 255/35 18" rear
Good tyre for most conditions, absolutely amazing in the wet, can drive like in the dry unless its absolutely pelting down. Only problem is they wear extremely fast and the cost versus life span doesnt really work out good. But meh its a performance car so it gets performance rubber ;)

for cheapies thet last forever with moderate grip go simex. $80 - 120 each for cheese cutters.

For burnouts and drags go retreads.....wont last long but are really soft and sticky. Smoke good too.

I'm just about through my 1st set of these. They're a very good tyre for the money and they've lasted much longer then I expected they would. I've just bought a set of re55's for the sprints this w/end. It'll be interesting to feel the difference between these and a set of half shagged RT-615's. I won't be using the RE55's for daily though. Waaaaaay to soft

I deleted the posts that had nothing to do with this topic, it's a valuable topic to have and I think discussion should be left out and posts should be left to the facts on what tyres are good or not for informations sake.

I have also created a new topic about tyre measurements as there is a common misconception on how to read them.

i find my nankang 235/45/18s to be a good tire for the price i paid for them and i don't treat them kindly through corners if you know what i mean the only problem i have found is they feel a little bit spongy when you need that extra little bit of brakes mid corner but can't complain for the price of $170 each fitted. i've had the tritecs on the front of my car before and they are an awsome tyre right through there life even with bald edges and tread down to the wear mark in th middle and i think they only cost bout $220 each fo my size only problem is i've heard that there getting fazed out.
If your not goin fast or sideways it ain't fun thats why i love my spool!
