OK, for all those old fogey QSS members, did that black, blown one tonner at the burnouts used to be the black chev one tonner owned by Jutin Mallo? I didn't put his correct surname but you know who he is.
It's not black it's purple and yes it used to belong to mello. it changed afew hands then i got it and turned it into what it is today.

Great photos Benny. Could you shoot some to me please via e-mail? burnouts(at)cairnsburnouts.com.

Just chasing some photos for the website.

Shame that ACE commodore had some problems.... seemed very strong early in the day. Would have been up with the best otherwise.

Kev still having problems with his box.

Laurie had some bigger problems to. Seemed to get worse through out the night.

All part of the fun!
Bigger problems is an understatement the motor is fructs and needs a full rebuild including crank 6conrods and 2 days of cleaning the block. All in all not 2 bad no holes in block suprisingly. took some pics get em on soon as i can. still don't know what caused the failuier tho think oil pump.

Alcohol is not the problem.... people are. Out of the hundreds of people drinking there is one or two issues. Shouldn't have to penalise everyone who can drink responsibly for a few morons.

The tiff in the pits wasn't alcohol related. It was, from what I can gather, a group of regulars that have caused problems in the past. Simple solution. Won't be returning.

On a positive note there was a great turn out with around ~40-50 entrants. I have yet to go through the paper work but that is a safe estimate. There was also a massive spectator turn out.

Once we sorted out a few problems early in the day it ran pretty consistent the entire evening.

Thanks to the Townsville guys for coming up and hope to see you all next time.

Congratulations to all the event winners.... all had a well deserved win.

And of course all the people who helped out during the event making it run so smooth!
Matt you did agreat job for the first one things will only get better good on ya.

Oh well it's all part of the fun... could have been worse and it's been running for a long time now so all things considered it went well.

Thanks Laurie. Considering we changed a fair bit I think it went quite well and everyone was pretty good and patient with us. All the guys did a great job and as you say can only get better!

Well u would'nt belive what happened. oil did save the motor but it can't stop main caps from spilting in half. no rods out side crank will be ok need rods only and four bolt caps.

Probably not the right spot for these pics.....but following on from earlier discussion:
These were taken somewhere between 1993 and 1997. Not sure when.

And my favourite:

Thats one hell of a mess you got there Lorrie, i hope it looks better in the flesh than in the pics as it doesn't look like much of that bottom end is reusable.
All the best with the rebuild, see you at the next comp.

I'll give anything a go theres going to be some awesome cars down there this year. But if i break it we will re build again and again and again and so on but i hope this combo works a bit better it' all a learning curve 4 me these blown engines that was the 1st one i have ever done so i think it went pretty well 4 what it had in it and 4 as long as it did.
