fair enough. then maybe you should offer to judge next time and you can sort out all the inconsistencies. but this car show has been done and finished and the judges made the desisions on the day not the club. I will be there next year and so will alot of other people that went. the show can only get better now that the club can learn from their mistakes. Good on them for making it happen and trying to improve it from previous years.... shame about the pad not being done in time but obviously it will be there next year and hopefully a working dyno too.

I didnt look at the prem on the day but I have seen it a few times before and dont have much bad to say about it, but maybe your problems with the 'car' are more personal then anything

Hi all, This is my first post on this site.I was at the car show on the weekend (red fc van) and I have read with interest all of the posts. To put a car show on of this size is a lot of work and mostly done by a few members of the club. Most of this work is done before the event. Just getting the thing to a point where it happens. Everyone tries to do their best and come up with a good day for all their hard work.
They only do it because they love cars.
Well done Burdekin for giving us a good day out and a place to show our cars.
As for members of the hoist club being in the judging, I can't see anything wrong with this.
Some members of clubs don't travel to other towns to show their cars, but bring them out to the local show and shine. We have many members in our club who do this and I think it would be dumb not to judge them. Its an incentive for them to bring out their cars and it gets the numbers up. More cars, more people through the gate. Just get the Judges from outside the hoist club if you think it's a problem. You can never make everyone happy.
My only suggestion would be to inform clubs/entrants before hand how the points will be awarded on the day.
Some good shows coming up in Mackay. Done miss um.
Cheers Graham (MAD HC)

Sorry OS I posted to spanner and didn't see your reply, I would offer to judge for you guys next year but unfortunately I wouldn't be able to judge the member's cars so that would put me out. Also I don't have a personal problem with the Premier I love that car, I owned it, I bare metaled it (by hand) and resprayed it inside and out and I even built the engine, if anything I know the car better than the current owner ever will but it just didn't beat all the other cars to a top 10 spot, not by a country mile, if it was close fine but it wasn't. A fine example of a top 10 contender would be for example 73VET (Red Corvette) runner up top American and at least 5 or 6 more.

Just to be differant the Mackay Rod and Custom Club have always alowed the entrants to judge the top ten cars and top bike.

All entrants pick their top ten then the ten cars with the most votes become the top ten as voted by their peers.

Then all other class trophies are judged as per any show. The cheif judge is someone that has been doing this for a long time. This at times gives some interesting results whne entrants become judges.

For all of you that were at the Burdekin show and want another great weekend befor the Ingham show come to Mackay on the 16th and 17th May.

For more information www.mrcc.org.au

Judging is always a contentious issue but I believe all committees that run shows try to do their best and we all learn from each show we run.

See you all in Mackay.

There you go, the results were in our local paper today, The Advocate, so I'll attach it.

Sorry, a bit fuzzy but if you enlarge it it's readable.

We built this dual cab (originally a HZ Sandman Van) during the same time we owned the Premier and used it for a tow car for a few years for our Panel Shop.Attached File  HZ_Dual_Cab_1.jpg   277.43K   16 downloads

Well I have to say it doesn't look like much will change next year by the response on here but we can only hope. Year after year we hear the same old thing "next year is going to be bigger and better" but in most cases it is just talk because unless committee members/organisers are willing to take criticism on board and actually act on it then nothing will change for the better. I am talking not only about the Burdekin here but all shows and last year we went to Charters Towers, Ingham, Strand Car Show, The Burdekin, All Holden Day in Townsville, Rollingstone, Bluewater & Cairns and I can tell you the pick was probably Bluewater. If you want people to support these shows you have to be able to offer both the entrants and spectators a good venue, fair treatment, value for money and last but not least good quality cars, bikes, trophies/prizes etc. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Karen Doyle and her crew all the best for next year and one would hope we are able to see them come ahead in leaps and bounds. Karen, is Warren your husband? if so tell him I said congratulations on winning a Top Ten Plate.

Cheers Neale.
