I am the guy that is building the Mercedes....When you see a Merc next year up there, throwing 650HP and 2 tonnes of car on the burnout pad just think about HOW I am doing it....I cant use my legs, so hand controls are the way to go. That means 1 hand on the hand controls, controlling BOTH brake AND accelerator and the other hand throwing the steering around.
Before you start poking sh!t at people in chairs, think about this.....I was once like you....I was injured at age 23 and I had built my first car at age 16 - probably around the same time some you guys were still sh!tting in your hand and rubbing it in your face. It could very easily happen to you...The blink of an eye and you become like me and DONT FOR A SECOND think it couldnt happen to you...I thought the same way....
Anyway, cheers for the ups to the original poster, you're a champ, thanks for bringing my project to peoples' attention

Finally, here's a pic of me that you cannot find on the net, I just posted it on Modified Car Forums...You will be able to match up my face to other images you can find on me by googling.
Me at Powercruise Perth

@ LXTorrie, the only reason I replied in that thread was because my hit counting software on my website listed the thread as one of the top 5 referrers to my site, so I like to check them out. I guess the net does some pretty interesting things to poeple's minds......
OK, now that has been sorted out....
@ Jubes...no dramas mate, I think I jsut had a worse day than most yesterday, which is why I had such a knee jerk reaction. I get a little sick of people telling me what can and cant be done, either in the chair or on the car...so I push on and try to prove them wrong but some days are a bit more of a struggle than others.
@Goon...that is the best way to learn I think, just jumping in, getting dirty and learning in a hands on way. I think you have chosen some great cars to do. The Merc is a bit of a pain because its not built like a lot of other cars of its time and, being European, parts are MUCH harder to get and A LOT more expensive. The commys are by far more common so parts are readiy available and cheaply, a lot of people know abut them so info is easier to find and they are a little simpler in their mechanical design so there is less chance of screwing it up. Good luck with your build Goon, im sure your prior build experience will help you no end in the VL build.

Web stats are only usually compiled together once every 24 hour period. Sometimes even less for wordpress sites which dont have any metadata for bots.
Welcome to the site anyways. Maybe you should post an intro thread so ppl can follow your progress on QSS.

Seems someone is suffering a bit of foot-in-mouth syndrom. Very un-tasteful comment.....

Thanks LXTorrie, yeah the site has only been up since the Feb 26 so it hasnt seen a truckload of hits. The counterize module i have for the site stats just shows the top 5 referring sites and this one was on it. The reason it came up after this was posted so quickly is because the 3 other refferring sites above this one account for about 85% of all the sites hits so any other site only needs a few people clicking onto my site to make the top 5 refferrers.
Anyway, yeah I will head on over and intro myself. I will try and get some more pics up today but Im really trying hard toget this Jaguar diff built and put back in the car - at the moment its stripped down and in primer so i gotta paint it and then reassemble it, hopefuly by the end of the day

I just think that people who paint the undercarriage and running gear on their cars all the same colour as the body and engine bay make it look like they are trying to hide things. If I have all my nuts and bolts bright and my running gear in a contrasting colour, it makes me able to highlight the fact that I have actually pulled every single nut and bolt from every component, reconditioned and replaced parts and then put it all back together again. Its very easy to hide that fact when you paint everything one colour. Im not saying that heaps of people do it, it's just my personal take on it.
This is a similar colour to what the car will end up with:

I'd love to come up to Cairns with it!! Ive been there a couple of times before, but ot with my car. Ive been there for some wheelchair rugby games and a training camp. Its an amazing corner of the world
