What car preparation is needed to enter in the zinc fm bitumen sprints? Any tips for someone looking to get into it for the first time?

Pretty easy for me when i went the first time..

Car in good shape.. ie; no leaks, tread, overflow etc.. stuff which should be in order to be Road worthy
Blue triangle on the panel were the battery is, 1kg fire extinguisher bolted down within arms reach, no loose items in vehicle.

Then you just got to make sure the car is healthy.. fluids, nuts & bolts, tread etc.

Definately give it a go.. heaps of fun. Can't wait to get back out there.

Yes I believe so, but would be a lot quicker and convenient to pop into 'top gear' and get it done before hand to save time at the track for the people doing the paper work and scrutineering as the more time save at the track the better for all.

Yeah its held at the gokart track, I went in my first one last weekend. Was great fun! biggrin.gif
You need a CAMS L2S (Level 2 Speed) license to go in the Sprints and Hillclimbs. You can get it off the website:

http://cams.com.au/Development/Get%20Invol...LicRenewal.ashx

And you have to be a paid member of a car club, with membership number/card.
If the car is registered you'll need a CTP extension for the day(s) that you can get from your insurance company.
And the rest is safety jazz, long sleeve shirt, pants, closed shoes, helmet, 1kg fire extinguisher, blue triangle.

Also make sure your 1kg fire extinguisher has a metal bracket and is mounted with nut and bolt, not screws. Cheers Jay

I couldn't find any more recent threads regarding the bitumen sprints.....so this thread it is....

When is the next sprints event? As far as I can tell it's not over for the year yet, and next one is the 17th Oct - correct? Want to get out with some new camera gear and take some shots, haven't been out there for ages.
