The good thing is that Liberty is easily twice as wide so that will help a lot with making the course bigger and faster. How much of Liberty street is being used for the event? Have you sketched any course layouts?
Im very keen to compete but if the whole course has to be done in 1st gear like the Pt douglas track would have been I fail to see the point.
(this is not criticism to your events, its just my car isnt at all suited to a very tight track)
I hear what you are saying, the course was quite short, narrow and limited in Pt Doug last year, as you mentioned Liberty street is a lot wider, and the whole street is closed for us i beleive, so it would be a bit better suited to your car, however motorkhanas are designed to be run in 1st and 2nd gear only, as it is not a speed event.
As it hppened it was my very fist event with the evo and I was babying it a little
We've got a few quick layouts already, but are working on some more, it really depends on competitor numbers and time.
This is a true motorkhana layout, although our tracks wont be this complex - yet
enjoy

no worries coop, heard about your spill, bugger about that mate
dont stress as we've now done the hard yards to get permits etc approved, if all goes well and its a sucessfull, well behaved event then there is no reason we cant hold regular meets there

I went to the last bitumen event in port douglas and the course was very small and tight. It would have taken a 3 point turn to get the GTR to turn around in the end of the close. The EVO I saw competing at that event barely got onto boost at all, and managed to shift to 2nd gear only a few times because the track was so short.

You'll find most cams spec motorkhanas are like this as they are non speed events hence no helmets. best thing you could do to be half competive there in a 34 GTR is drop the front drive shaft and make sure your hand brake is spot on.
There's a few clips on youtube of ours under townsville motorkhanna. I've run my gtr there a few times in 2 wheel drive but the s15 is far more suited to it. But yeah just 2 wheel drive it and have a ball. These are a heap of fun and I wish I could be there.

Ian, there's no reason why the first vid you posted couldnt be run on our track, as long as the course meets the cams motorkhana rules, i.e no straight longer than 200metres etc, its quite possible, but yes that layout is more leaning towards auto sprints.
All ideas are welcome though to ensure it can be a repeat event, all interested racers can come to the mext club meeting at Black and White Communications, 16 Comport St, JUNE 17th Wed at 7.30pm for more info on the club
Derek and Zed34 - would be great to have you there, just call Pete on the above mobile number to book a spot!

Hey Mufti! I'm 99.999% sure you will have to have CTP extension to race a road registed car, otherwise you wouldn't be covered in the event of spectator injury or death (heaven forbid) while you are racing, CAMS insurance would cover a unregisted car, but your normal CTP insurer would not if you dont have the proper paperwork, so the club wont let you race,
Probably give Pete a call ASAP if you are still unsure, mob- 0402043311
BTW- FNQ motorsports club is offering honorary day membership for first time racers! So all you pay is for event entry $40 , and CAMS licence, $25 for day licence. Giddy up!

"THE PATH OF THE GTI-R IS BESET WITH PERIL BY THE INJUSTICES OF THE SPEED CAMERA AND THE TYRANNY OF OTHER DRIVERS. BLESSED IS HE WHO OVERTAKES THE EVO & STI THROUGH THE VALLEY OF HAIRPIN TURNS, FOR HE IS TRULY HIS CAR'S TUNER AND THE FINDER OF LOST HORSEPOWER. . . AND WE SHALT STRIKE DOWN WITH GREAT BOOST AND FURIOUS ACCELERATION ON WHOEVER DOTH ATTEMPT TO OBSTRUCT OR DELAY OUR OVERTAKING. . .
