I think the heads wanted to have a holiday but the crank wanted to stay at home lol

but yeah, it's repairable.

just put a g clamp from the top of one of the bores to the pan rail, gouge it out, weld, back gouge it, weld, the polish it, i'm sure it'll make the perfect base for a coffee table.

Seriously, was involved in a front end shunt or something?

Im not sure on the background, a collegue sent it to me a few weeks back, I will have to run it by him but at a guess it could be a hi rpm SC alcohol engine, Id rekon VT-565 is on the money, fairly indicative of wot the 45 psi of 14/71 tries to do over a period of time, push the crank out the oil pan, lol biggrin.gif
Although stress fractures are fairly common in 410ci sprint car engines that are making 900+.

WOW - From the cross hatch marks you can still see in the bore it mustn't have a great deal of miles on it, nasty, hate to have that repair build. ohmy.gif

Looks to me like it got delivered by TNT express couriers in the same truck as my sump.

Spotted that at Beauies Mt Isa on the way into town one day.
I sent this pic to their head office in Amsterdam and got a reply within 23 min.
