Hate to spoil the party but it is illegal to do this even if no money changes hands. You can only do it for CLOSE family ie; Son/Daughter is considered as close family.

Isn't it only illegal for club registered cars? It doesn't fall under the rules of club rego therefore illegal. If it's a regular registered vehicle it's fine I believe. No different from dropping someone at the cinema or the likes.

Also, I think this thread (to work properly) should have a structure which car owners must post in.... ie;

Location:
Make:
Model:
Prefered contact method:
Photos.....

And no comments. Will be useless if it's 10 pages long full of people asking for cars and general chit chat, and only 5 people posting their car up for use. Will leave that up to the topic starter.

No i have heard it is illegal for all cars. Those whinging limo drivers must have got it through haha

The guys going to think here's another kid using a fake ID or here's McLovin, the 25 year old Hawaiian organ donor. So what's it going to be? I am McLovin. No your not. No one's McLovin, McLovin's never existed because that's a made up, dumb, f**king fairy tale name you f**k

Hearsay doesn't mean much. People think a lot is illegal when it isn't, and vica versa. I tried to find legislation on it, but had no luck. Only thing I found was for club rego, which states immediate family... but nothing for regular registration.

I tried to find the legislation too but no luck.

Doesn't make sense for it to be illegal, as Mat said you could be dropping anyone off anywhere, my friends give me fuel money if we take my car long distances, same thing here with dropping off at a formal.

police are sometimes petty in there law enforcement, but even if it was illegal i highly doubt they would care about someone being drivin in a car for 20 mins, could not see a fine sticking if it was even issued?

I think the reasons are tax and insurance etc

Police do not in force this law it is done by the DOT and all they have to do is be at the site and inspect every car. It is not meant to stop mum and dad's doing it but those who receive payment for doing it.

Yes Shrekvk us Underpaid Limo drivers have got our way. ( I may be closer to you that you may know soon)
It can be done but you will need a SP ( Special Purpose) plates on the car, cost is $2000 per year and limo cost for rego($1500 pa) plus business insurance. There is a way around it but this is not the place to do it.

The Inspectors have been out in Townsville. This law came in to force July last year. At present only one car has SP rego and that's doing weddings in Port. Thats why the Hummers here can not be rego as Limo's and will be reported to the DOT if seen doing anything other that Airport to Hotel to or Hotel to Tourist attraction (Sky rail etc)and that's all they can do under there current rego.

I should point out this also applies to wedding cars as well. In fact the law was bought about more because of the illegal cars doing wedding more than the Formals. but they have been caught up in the legislation. Fine I think is $1000.

If a hot young lady (or two or three) needs a lift to a formal, there should be absolutely no need for you to ask for money as well.

Who cares jesus! If i walked down the street these days i would get fined 5 times over probably!
I started the thread for the youngsters to get a nice ride to the formal cause i know it was
hard for me to get 1 back in the day, just don't charge and cut the crap talk and just put cars
up that you think they might want as sinister suggested and also use the structure sinister suggested:

Brian is being paid money the whole problem? I thought giving any sort of lift was the problem? If it's just money, anyone can just say I didn't pay them
