The Best Tractor Parts Nitro Funny Car Night of Fire will see the return of the Nitro’s to Palmyra Dragway,
Mackay on the 24th of October for a match race between the Paul Shakelton owned and Damien Harris driven
Best Tractor Parts Funny Car and Ashley Bailey driving the Chemical Warfare Funny Car.

It's been over 20 years since Nitro Funny Cars have been seen at Palmyra and this event is set to light up the
night with Shacks looking to take the track record off Ben Bray and put it deep in the 5's.

Supporting the Nitro Funny Cars, we have our regular fields of Modifieds, Super Sedan, Super Streets and Bikes.

So keep that date free and keep and ear out for more details.

A few facts you may not know about Nitro Funny Cars.

- They produce more than 7000 Hp (5220 kW) and 7000 ft•lbf (9,500 Nm) of torque.

- Launching will generate more than 6G’s of acceleration, and braking will create negative 7G’s.

- Along with other Top Fuelers these are the fastest accelerating vehicles on earth, and launch faster than a space
shuttle or a catapult assisted jet fighter.

- A vehicle travelling at a constant 200mph as it crosses the start line will be beaten to the finish line from a standard
start at the same time.

- 0 to 300+ mph and back to 0 can be obtained in less than 20 seconds.

- Engines can not be run at maximum power output for more than 10 seconds without over heating or possible exploding.

- During a standard run (start up, burnout, back up, staging, 1/4mile and braking) these cars can use as much as 60L’s of
fuel.

- Fuel costs about $10 per Litre.

- After each run the engine is striped and rebuilt in 90 mins. During the rebuild all major components are removed and either
inspected or replaced and rebuilt later. The only major pieces that remain in the block are the crank (although the mains
caps come off so they and the bearings can be inspected) and the camshaft. Everything else, from the blower to the oil
pan and even the clutch, is removed.

- Nitromethane burns yellow. The spectacular white flame seen above the stacks at night is raw burning hydrogen,
dissociated from atmospheric water vapor by the searing exhaust gases.

- Dual magnetos apply 44 amps to each spark plug. This is the output of an arc welder in each cylinder.

- The redline is actually quite high at around 9500rpm

Well I though the 5.27 at 278 mph was pretty darn good :D

I don't think 4's would be out of the question.
Overall PB (hopefully in the 9's soon) 360ci Charger 11.18 at 121mph
265 Hemi Turbo Charger PB 11.85 at 112mph
Tripled 265 Centura PB 13.13 at 102mph
Got Centura 12's planned. At a dead end for now.

seeing as the last run was a 5.50 at 200mph shut off at 1000ft . . . would have been a good number

Half track showed it being 0.01 quicker than the 5.2 pass, but 5mph down. So it was starting to lay over.

Comparing to their 4.98 (back off) pass at the Winters it went 3.43 at 245 to half track and here it went 3.58 at 223mph. A 5.00 pass it went 3.40 at 252mph.

Pretty darn good for 2 passes for an unknown on the track.
