I say forget 2nd and 3rd prize and make it all first. Best few (3, 4, 5, whatever) go to the finals and best one wins.

Prices are good. You'd know as well as I do the prices charged at other events. Some are in excess of $200 to skid. While prize money may be higher, it's still an excessive fee.

We charge $25 to skid. Four meets a year. Couple TEST & TUNE in there as well at reduced costs.

We award following;
open class $500
8cyl class $350
6cyl class $250
4cyl class $100
ladies class $100

Perhaps do two or three non-paying events to gauge interest? Lower entry costs but no prize money. After you know what sort of entrant and crowd you will get you can work out the finer details.

Throw me a picture of a car doing a skid Mick.... I will put something on the front page and link it to this thread. Encourage more people to voice their opinion to! More people behind it the better.

mackay seems to be a strange place when it comes to legal comps, ive used my work ute to transport tires and tools to a location approx an hour out of town about 12 cars drove there about 5 shredded 2 ute loads of tires, and not one of these cars was at the organized comp......... doesn't make sense

Too soft to do it in front of the crowd. A shit skid on the street is still good to your mates. Just have to watch Youtube and see people going "yeaaaa man that's sick" or similar at terrible skids.

yea dont even get started on youtube skids lol, there craptastic, i think cost is a big thing at the moment, i know the burnouts at speedway last year to get 2 people in and enter the car ended up at like $75 or $80, then add fuel and tyres is an expensive skid

75 to 80 bucks vs impoundment and fines. Hmm. Not to mention can pick up 2nd hand tyres easily enough.

All a matter of support really. More support there is then the cost can be lower. If there is no support it has to be high to cover costs, but just have a look at skid comps around Australia and most are far from cheap.

We are lucky to have low over heads and good support at the Cairns Burnouts to be able to offer $10 entry and $25 to skid. Even for the NQ PRO Burnouts we don't up the price from $25.

But as wraith said impound fees + fines is worse.

oh yea, south oz has alot of skid comps and drift events, i used 2 attend quite a few of them but S.A. is the best place 4 that type of thing, they have more than 4 places 4 these type of comps and 2 4 the drift comps, not 2 mention the drift practice like nearly every 2nd weekend so i rekon we gota good chance at getting something like this happening
