have you checked the power transistor unit?? these do tend to fail from time to time.. disconnect it and clean all the terminals up and try it again.. if no joy try a known working one from someone's car..

see how that goes

Thought i'd update this incase anyone has similar problems,
Since my last post i replaced the coils with Splitfires and still had no joy so i pulled out the Emanage thinking it might be giving me false codes. Turns out it was, after removing it and resetting the factory ECU the error code (21) was gone.
Unfortunately the car was still running like a deisel tugboat. After another week or so of stuffing around pinning out the ECU loom i decided to rewire my boost controller ( it was disconnected after pulling out the Emanage) and that got my idle back to normal and fixed the coughing problem. I think the boost controller solinoid was stuck open and it was spiking and then putting the ECU into R&R.
I also discoved that if you run a Profec E-01 Boost controller and tap the RPM input into the stock ecu the dash tacho cuts out when you reach 4 grand and drops to zero. (disconnected the boost controller tacho line and its back to normal).
So after heaps of headaches and stuffing around ive finally got it running again. So now i need another ECU (probably get a haltech) and a tune and it should be all good to go...

Cheers for the ideas this was definately a learning experience!!!
