I don't like being told what to do, and when some aluminium cased box of gears and friction plates tells me that it's time to change up, I really get pissed off. I will decide when it's time to change gears and sometimes I'm right. So the old smarty-pants automatic transmission isn't my best friend

LOL whats wrong with imports/turbo 6/4s? I wouldn't mind running an 11 using about 1/10th petrol as what the supercharged 8 used in the other lane used, that just got beaten.
Then drive it around a corner.
Then drive it home.
Then drive it to work the next day.
Then drive it out to dinner.
Then drive it around on the weekend

On one tank of fuel.

But hey thats just me.
I still have respect for people that cant let go of the past and believe 8's are the be all and end all of power. :P

if the car is done right, you can drive a 9 or 10second import car daily with decent fuel economy and comply with all legal requirements including noise.

You don't really use 1/10th (or whatever) the fuel. You run a turbo rich because of the high compression so it's going to use just as much while racing... Maybe not have the cubes, but 2L (or whatever) with 20psi in it is a theoretically a larger motor anyway....

Millers car is a fine example of a great street car that can turn, and pull the numbers. Drivers there, and home also. EVERY skid comp it is always driven there. Drives to the drag strip and home. Even drove down to Brisbane and the likes to go racing, and back again.

Each to their own.... I like anything quick....

i respect anything that is fairly quick... but when one track minded people keep the age old imports are gay thing going on... import owners will always retaliate.... i would love a v8 but i like the 7 litres per 100kms my starlet gives while still being fairly quick for a 1.3 litre ;)

Millers Car is a freak though. The 1uz is an awesome motor without using a jiggillion cubic inches to make power, Its also a Toyota, It also came from Japan.

Your right, each to there own, but im also sick of one eyed narrow minded people like Starlet666 said.
Nobody can accuse me of been narrow minded, I own a 1.6 litre Honda FFS, Ive also got a boosted 6 and i plan on running a classic and stroked V8 in one of my cars.

without getting into a major debate there are plenty of 10 sec N/A stock bottom end v8's running around, most people just build bottom ends for longevity, a engine is nothing more than a air pump, the bottom end provides nothing more than reliability, most of the power comes from your heads, cam, carb/injection, turbo's etc, some of coures is determined by your CI if your bottom end also, and compression plays a part as well, which can be altered with your head CC's if you like..

this is true with any engine weather it's a 8 cyl or a 4cyl, so a stock bottom ended turbo import running 10's on a stock bottom end is nothing out of the ordinary asa built bottom end running the same gear will run the same numbers, but the beauty of a built bottom end is you can push it harder than the old stocko one..
