One of the first things on the cards since I've been the promoter of the Cairns Burnouts was to increase the size of the pad.... and now it's happening!!!

Thanks to a bunch of volunteers donating their equipment and time this has been able to happen. Without the help of them it would not be within our budget so shout these guys plenty of beers when you see them! Thanks Colin, Darren, Des and all the other guys that busted their ass!

Here is the pad so far......

Nice expansion! That will provide a lot more space for you guys. Just a question, are you going to core the face of the existing slab and run dowels into it? I don't know what the soil is like there but if it is expansive you could see the new slab rise or fall independant of the existing one leaving you with a nice lip you could possibly smash a rim on. Simply a cautionary note :)

Yes, it has been doweled. It's getting done by concreters so they know what they're doing. There is still a bit left to do before we pour it next weekend, but it is coming together!

The barriers are couple meters off normally. The NQ PRO Burnouts had no barriers. The pad is slightly bigger than the pad at ULTIMATE BURNOUTS now and not many cars there went off even with crazy horse power.... got no excuse now :)

Aside from a few clean up jobs it is done now.
