I don't like being told what to do, and when some aluminium cased box of gears and friction plates tells me that it's time to change up, I really get pissed off. I will decide when it's time to change gears and sometimes I'm right. So the old smarty-pants automatic transmission isn't my best friend

i wish it was pre setup.... i stuck a wideband up its bum added fuel so it was safe up to 20psi and then limit my boost to 16 (most of the time) havent added timing yet so still has a heap of tune left but i need some 500+cc injectors to get the magic number im after....

14mm top feeds with an oval shape plug THANK YOU Posted Image

I run 101MPh with a stock setup

a highflow turbo running that much power should not net you only 3mph over the quarter

Casper if you want a high flow I've got a rear housing that you might be able to use its an AVO .73 IW recast to suit gt30r <im not sure what cartridge highflows use

Just bought a GT3071R kit from Boostn Imports and sent my ecu for a NIStune board. Let you know when it gets here. Will this be a headache if I take a stab at installing myself? I'm not that well kitted with tools but if I swapped exhausts it shouldn't be too difficult?

Want to have this tuned by the car club meet next Saturday lol

its not difficult but it can take time, you will throw a few spanners in anger haha

make sure you get some braided lines made up

Install shouldn't be that hard.
I did the turbo upgrade on my S15 with no experience dealing with these sorta cars/engines.
Only really need a metric socket set, ring spanners/open ended, shifter/breaker bar, no special tools really
Take your time. I cracked the shits and had to walk away afew time hahaha

GTRNUR- Noticed that the anodized colour on the fittings on my braised lines has started to melt abit
Starting to see coolant seep out around the -AN thread seal.
Been on my S15 only since January, and only about 215rwkw

Braided lines? For oil and coolant? I really dont recommend them.

The speedflow hose is supposidly rated for coolant level temperatures, but in reality it just doesnt survive. I ran -6 speedflow coolant lines on my old R32 which had the GT25bb400 highmount, and the hose lasted about 6 months. The problem is that with heat and time the rubber goes hard, then it cracks. Then you will notice that the braided line will sweat coolant when the system is up to temperature and pressurised. Ive had the same problem with other cars too. My last vw engine ran a coolant system for the turbine bearing housing as well, and the same thing happened.

Oil lines will generally survive as the temps are lower. The main reason the coolant lines fail is because of coolant temp surges after engine shutdown. Coolant in the turbo coolant housng boils and bubbles back into the lines, super heating the coolant supply and return lines.

If you want it to be reliable use hard lines all the way. There is a reason they come like that from the factory. It works and it will last 100,000km and more.

braided oil and coolant... 100 series speed flow? no. i dont reccomend them either, happy to reccomend speed flow 200 series teflon hose for oil lines and 400 series for water lines.

your nuts if you are going to leave stock lines on the car if you are changing the turbo, not to mention they generally dont fit once a bigger/different turbo is installed
And the amount of screwing around it cuases having the stock hard lines ..If the engine was out of the car when installing them it would be ok but when in the car it can be a head f**k

Agree with rubber lines they are junk, thats why Bens s13 went up in flames the oil line split

I don't have any of the problems listed there. Telflon lined stainless braided hose. Make sure they aren't run in a tight radius and you will be good. Ian is right though hardlines are good for longetivity. Just depends on what you want to do and how much you are willing to spend. Id rather spend once and know its done right :). Tight radius on telflon lined hose cracks it and lets it leak and all sorts of trouble erupt from there. As for oil lines I always step them up and add a restrictor in the banjo fitting.. Why? I bronzed the bearings to the shaft of a gt2876r on a ca18det once upon a time. It was found the oil had solidified in the line and caused the problem. I use dash 6 or dash 8 (depending what setup e.t.c) and yes I know its overkill but id rather overkill then another bb turbo as an ornament :)

A gt3040 is plenty of fun on the streets and is more than enuff to get you in trouble :) hope it goes well for you and post some pics of the finished product
