Just been looking through ebay and found genuine BRAND NEW NOS GM extractors to suit my VK EFI 6 3.3ltr
and was curious if these are better performance wise then say the more expensive pacemaker/hi tech or hurricane extractors which are double the price of the genuine GM ones.

Whats your thoughts QSS'ers? :)

I know little to nothing about the VK but OEM grade stainless sounds like a joke to me. OEM is never stainless. eBay is rampant with junk auto bits. It may cost more, but go see Jason at Tuff Muff on Mulgrave Road.

yeah i gave the tuff muff guys a call yesterday, they were around 100 dollars cheaper than carline if i got them to fit it.
hurricane extractors $700
2.5" exhaust $500
All up fitted would be $1200.

with exhaust shops, times are quiet so if they want the work you can bargin the price down alot dont be scared to play them off against each and make them give you a written quote that they'll stick to before work is carried out.

Companies like Pacemaker, Hurricane, Genie etc wouldn't exist of the factory gear was that good.

Those extractors don't look like stainless to me.

Go and get a set of Pacemakers, you won't regret it.

Well I did last weekend.

Pacemakers PH5027 into a LX Torana with a M76 5 speed. The collector from the front pipes rubs against the bellhousing, buts since the engine and box are together, there is no real movement. Also need to move the say bar down by about 6-8mm to clear the pipes, but again, its just rubbing slightly, nothing drastic.

They are tuned length pipes and I had them ceramic coated - $660. Full twin system off the back of these too.

So Vandy, I hope those Hurricanes are a decent bit of gear, because these Pacemaker pipes are a very high quality product.

Pity you are in Cairns mate, otherwise I would send you straight to Bob Parkes on Charters Towers Rd.
Keep the racing to the tracks.

ah fair enough, yeah found some pacey extractors on ebay to suit my VK, roughly 600 inc. postage
so might grab them and as for exhaust set up probably top off the spend limit on that to around 700 and go either carline or tuff muff, not sure yet.

Out of curiosity, what size pipe, mufflers, and anything else are you planning to use? $700 will get you a mother of an exhaust for a 202.
Keep the racing to the tracks.

The factory efi extractors are the best for the vk efi, they are 6 into 3 into 1, they are stainless steel ( only average quality S/S at that) and they way the are designed , each pair of pipes help scavange gases from each others cylinders. Holden spent a fortune designing them to get the power ( about the same power of the LJ XU1 motor ) from a fairly sedate motor, as to your ilding problem start with checking all hoses etc to the engine including the egr set up, timing and then the idle ajustment, Not the screw on the throttle shaft ( dont touch this is factory set) but on the throttle body there is a screw with a locknut that controls air to the idle system. What other vk parts are you after, if you wish to know more pm me and I will give you my phone no, cheers, Woz

I might be a Dinosaur (and bloody proud of it, lived on the edge through the best years of street machining), but I rather push my Holden than drive a rice burner with hair dryer

Yeah well may go with pacemakers anyway as i have heard good feedback on them and would be alot better quality over the standard holden extractors, thanks for the info wombles.
