So I know these are illegal to install in a car that didn't come factory with them. But does anyone know if you can get a mod plate for them? I'm thinking about ditching my pop up lights, and would like to install HID's but would like to make sure I could make it legal.

im pretty sure u will find they r legal as long as u use a projector tyre lamp or a self leveling headlight, other than that, u cant blueplate or anything as far as im aware
the only thing to fear is fear itself.....

Hmmn I was told they are completely illegal unless the car came with them. I don't see why they would be its pretty stupid.

its only if the car has self leveling headlights, projectors im sure are still out of the question, although if u have projectors and stay away from the really blue colours u would never have an issue,

stick to the 4300k - 6000k and u have the best light output and least amount of blue to get ass raped with

I don't like being told what to do, and when some aluminium cased box of gears and friction plates tells me that it's time to change up, I really get pissed off. I will decide when it's time to change gears and sometimes I'm right. So the old smarty-pants automatic transmission isn't my best friend

wtf are u on about??? those lenses are nuthing like the ones in that kit that them fellas are putting together, the kit they are using actually uses a full projector housing, not some silly lense in a 7 x 6 housing... u can clearly see they are totally different, u pay for what u get though u did it cheap and yours fell apart

as for the HID system they are talking about using is a phillips kit which retails at about 450 for a basic single beam kit and up to 750-800 for a bi-xenon kit they are OEM spec and not a cheap shitty ebay kit that will last about 2 weeks....

and as for ur first of those 4 posts, u fail, 8000k HID is far from legal and driving with ya foggies on is useless and worth a fine anyways.... as to why u would want to put yellow hid lights in is beyond me as u could spend like no money on fog lights as they are useless for most people anyways

im sorry tim that you dont like my choice but as far as i care i dont give a shit what you think, i was only giving him different options!!!
and those cheap chinese shitt!!!! are just as good as the expensive ones... they all produce light maybe not the exact colour tepm!!
and the factory fog light on the front come on with the head lights on the savana from factory......... tim!!
i picked 8000k becaus they are my high beam light tim not my driving lights you should read before comment on my opinions!!
ive had my ebay kit for 6 Months now and i have 1 of them in my dr400 its been in there for about 8 months and all the offroad riding and vibration what is a better testament to shitty ebay HID's they have lasted where some normal halogens fail!!!

that whole argument u just put down was like nuthing even directed at what i said..... except about the ebay hid kit lasting longer than 2 weeks (it was a bit of a short stretch i know but if u had some form of brain u would understand what i meant)

i didnt say anything about the fog lights being on or off, i said why u would waste money to buy HID's in yellow? and they may come on with the headlights, just like commodores and falcons, hell my car had em aswell, but drive with them on and u risk a nice little fine....

as i said before my car came out at the factory with yellow fog lights on the front.......I.E.
how can a police officer fine me for a factory fitted item that they have on there pursiut cars!!?????
and i already had one faulty light and the philips variant cot aprox $60 or more HID's $50 delivered!!!
1+1=2
and the theme for my car is to be sutble meaning keeping it genuine !!
so the most reasnoble choice was to buy the 3000k's because they have the most penetrating power at close distances when cornering!!
anything more than 8000k you are loosing the lenght of the beam and penetration power!!
tim i fix electronics and that is something i have thaught on!! MY 2 Cents if you have probs please PM Me as this is wasting good thread!!

taken from here.... http://www.transport...gulations/Road/

New road rules from 12 October 2009
fog lights — turn off fog lights in clear weather. If you drive with fog lights on in clear weather you risk being fined A$40

and on top of that

aftermarket HIDs are illegal in australia doesn't matter which state you are in. The design law states that any car fitted with HID lights must have a headlight washer, headlight leveler as well as projector lenses (For a sharp cutoff at the top of the beam). the only exception to this that i have seen is the forester's as they have a model out with oem HID's and normal headlights

so in fact all ur headlights AND foglights are illegal on ur rx7
