If it hasn't already been done or brought up, most likely if you are heading in the direction of 300AWHP then a front mount intercooler would be one of the first things on the list. Some people may object to this, but considering most WRX/STI owners go front mount early on proves it is an effective mod, just gotta watch the length of the piping you use as it will affect throttle response and subsequent lag..... even a water spray on the cooler as well could be something to look at, a relatively cheap modification that can see numbers improving.

Talking to a mate that had a rex with a fair bit of work done, suspension is the way to go. He had quite a bit of work done by MRT, and he said hands down he would rather spend the money on suspension than horsepower. They did a test too down there with 2 wrx's put 10k into hp on one and 10k into handling on the other, the one with the suspension work was around 10 sec quicker around a track.

And yea what big fly said, it also might help talking to who you plan on getting to tune the car and getting their idea on mods. Generally with a turbo you do start with the exhaust, air intake and intercooler. Then start looking at hi flo turbos and the fuel system side of the house.

Hey mate 300hp atw that's about 225 kwatw that should be know worries in a 02 sti you will just need a bigger turbo and maybe injectors would not worry about the front mount unless you want one, a good topmount can handle 250kw atw and with no lag at all if it has a hi flow turbo it should already be tuned I hope so any way fiind out what turbo it is and what boost it's running

Yes my car is fat as it just ate a v8 for lunch

If its running a decent boost level and the turbo is highflowed you will already be making 300HP at the wheels, best bet if you want more detailed information mate is to go onto the forums at www.rexnet.com.au

A lot of info here and more expert opinions from guys that own them, not many people up here own Sti WRX`s LOTS own normal WRX`s but they are worlds appart as you will find when you start looking around the rexxie forums.

i thought the sti gearboxes were the sh!t, could it be the clutch?

go and see one of the cairns shops with a 4 wheel dyno for a power run. They should be able to tell you how it's running, if something is a restriction and how well they tune is suited to the current mods.

Here's my insight, I just sold my WRX which had ~280hp at the wheels. It's quite easy to accomplish especially with the EJ207.

I didn't have a front mount and I don't believe it's a required item for your goal. Something like the Process West top mount would be more than enough.

Other things would be the usual exhaust, intake and fuel mods.

You don't need to go to straight cuts with your STi, it has the 6MT and they are pretty much bulletproof (Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, unless you are pushing more than 400hp then the STi driveline would be fine). It's the 5MT you've got to worry about, they are the ones that like to strip gears but luckily mine didn't have any problems.

I had a Hyperflow cold air intake, TurboXS turbo back exhaust, Walbro in-tank fuel pump, stock STi injectors (550cc) with a split fuel rail and Sard fuel pressure regulator with the VF34P18 turbo pushing 19psi.

The only other thing to do to hit 220atwkw was upgrade the turbo. Something like a TD0520G is what was recommended for that power but if I had done that then the gearbox would definitely be a major concern.

The other option you could do with yours is swap the exhaust housing with one from a VF22. This will give you more top end but it would be a good idea to find someone who can tune AVCS to help with the bottom end.
