Got rid of the Patrol and got a new rig over the weekend. VN Commodore with an LS1 fitted.....

Will never see the road, just be a toy to give a hard time at various events up here.

VN Commodore fitted with GENIII
Mafless tune
Bigger throttle body
330mm slotted front brakes
Bosch 044 fuel pump

Maybe some other things done that I'm not aware of yet

The 4L60E is a bit sad and I'm looking to replace it with a TH350/400 in the near future. Anyone that's done this or can direct me to places that can help with the swap let me know.... Thanks.

Loving the sydney-spec homosalon steering wheel.

Please tell me you're replacing it with something that didn't come off a lancer... :P

Ha ha ha. It was on there when I got it. I'm not real fussed as it's not made to look good.... just get driven hard!

I don't think so. It goes pretty well as it is.... perhaps down the track (long way down) a blower, but otherwise no. I don't have the funds to go spastic and 280hp is plenty enough for what I'll be using it for. Though I really do like the looks of this........

Yes as above. If I had the money I would, but I don't so will just trailer it. It's blue plated for the engine but yea, needs work to be registrable.

I've found a couple boxes up here, one of which is built, but still need to figure out how to go about fitting it and other things I need to do like flex plate, starter, tail shaft.

correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure the flexplate and starter for a 4l60e still works with a t400, just different torque convertor to suit the t400 which should come with watever box u get anyways

Reading a few things around and seems like I can't.......

Quote

Converter-
Can I use a standard th400 converter? Yes but certain conditions exist..The converters typically used are standard SBC converters that have two minor modifications. The first is that they use a LS1 Pilot diameter. The second is that they should have the pilot extended 3/8" to make up for the difference in length between the LS1 and a traditional SBC. If you want to run a "standard" TH400 converter, and the TCI flexplate, the TCI spacer can be replaced with one with a longer nose. This is because a standard converter doesn't have a pilot long enough to engage the back of the crank.

With the use of a stock flexplate and standard converter, you will need some special spacers.

I highly recommend to just buy a TC from a company such as Yank, Fuddle, Vig., etc.. and tell them you are putting a Th400 in your car. The TC will then come with the proper pilot and bolt pattern. The use of spacers is to much of a hassle in my eyes.

Just can't find anything too detailed on the whole procedure. That and I'm not real clued up on the mechanics of it all. Don't much like playing with gearboxes ha ha.

Colins goes great. One of the most consistent cars there. But.... auto is better. Pro ratchet & TH400.
