I don't like being told what to do, and when some aluminium cased box of gears and friction plates tells me that it's time to change up, I really get pissed off. I will decide when it's time to change gears and sometimes I'm right. So the old smarty-pants automatic transmission isn't my best friend

Yeah mate.
Mild 318.
Engine's bright pink.
Should go around 280fwhp I'm thinking.
Air con and power steer will draw on a little of that though.

Mate,it's an american 1972 dodge Dart Swinger
Essentially it's very little different to our 1969-71 VF/VG Valiant hardtops so ypu're on the ball.
Here's a couple of pics just before Xmas when I bought it off my brother davenq.

Definitly got the classic Dodge rear bumper. (Looks like a Dodge Duster bumper).

What,s the wheel / tyre combo going to be Ken?

Going to look good with the stripes!

Sure you're not thinking of John Clifford's yellow 1973 Dodge Challenger? That's the only yellow mopar I'm aware of in Mackay.Doesn't mean I know them all though.

Yes and no.She's no stranger to nice cars. Her current daily is a 1996 Chevvy camaro. Before that i had her in a 1989 pontiac Transam.
This one won't be her daily.Just something for cruising, shows, etc.

PLYMOUTH Duster or Dodge Demon you mean.
She wants satin finish autodrags. The blokes on the US mopar sites are telling me with an offset spring hanger kit I can get 275/60/15 under the rear.JUST.So that's hat we'll try for.
Striping is Judi's design.Came up well I reckon!!!
Yes...PINK

Nah,none under the vinyl.
Couple of small pinholes under the rear window rubber at the lower left corner and 2 small patches in the lower left guard.Otherwise entirely rust free.
The join from the roof to the rear quarters had the lead fill melted out, fully seam welded and filled as per current good practice

Anyway,it came home yesterday

Yeah mate, you're right. The colour's not happening how we want it so i'll just give it to the painter to get right.

Anyway,some progress.
Front end rebuilt and converted to late bolt pattern.(same as ford - 5 on 4.5"pcd)
Home narrowed ford disc brake rear fitted with a MoparPerformance offset spring hanger kit and leaves rebushed.
Tranny's in.Late model 904 rebuilt by Brinks Performance.
Power steering box was overhauled by George Uren.

I see that steering box is still on the LHS!! No plans on swapping it across? or is it ok now to register LHD cars? For ages it wasn't.

For vehicles over 30yrs old and under 4.5t GVM you can have full open unrestricted rego.
Anything newer than 30yrs old MUST be converted to RHD for rego.

Yeah Mike, race rubber off the cuda.28x10.5x15s.
I just tried them and was surprised when they fit!!!A bit to close to use though.
It does mean, however the 275/60/15s I wanted to get under there WILL fit OK.
And now I know what backspace I need for the rims so I can start hunting.
