for a street car id stick to a set up upgraded twins. Hks GTSS or GTRS Kit... a Trust T518z kit isnt too bad either. or you could buy the garrett equivalent GT2860-5r. keep in mine the HKS kit comes with every nut bolt washer e.t.c that you will need to fit the kit and is worth teh money.

if you like boost then GT3040, or GT3540 would be the go.. but keep in mind those china spec manifolds are fkn shit. Steam pipe for the win. I have been through three manifolds (and no they werent chinese) and the last one now is a Tuneagent custom order one. and that also has developed cracks (and this is on a street car not a track car). Steam pipe is the way to go. Stainless manifolds look good but are pretty rubbish for heat cycling. The end up crystallising and then deveoloping hairline cracks which indeed turn to slightly bigger cracks and then they just open up. (disposable commodoity for me when they develop the cracks).

Id prolly budget about 6 gorillas to do it properly. half ass jobs usually result in costing you twice over in the long run. and some advice.. EBAY SELL GARBAGE. If you want to mod your car with china spec garbage go for it. will tell you it will cost a lot more in the long run. Just spend once and do it right even if it means you have to spend a little more on quality parts.

good luck with it and let us know how you go

Yeah agreed that I wouldn't be buying anything off ebay. It would be better to talk to some tuning shops in Brissy, Sydney or Melbourne and finding out if they have any reconditioned or slightly used kits, otherwise buy new from a reputable shop.

The issue is once you get more power, you need more fuel so bigger injectors and fuel pump. Once you add bigger injectors you need aftermarket management. Once you make more power you need bigger exhausts flow the more exhaust you'll be making.

Once you go past what the stock fuel system can take it is an expensive exercise.

Then you want to look at what the engine limits are also and it starts again.

RB26 are probably one of (are) the most expensive Nissan motors to modify. Anything with GT-R stamped on the side attracts a premium cost.

As others have suggested find what you want from the car in terms of driving style and how you want the car to respond and then pick the bits that compliment that.

Warrick is probably one of the more clued up Skyline people on the forum and has learned the hard way blowing up a few RB26 in his time. He knows just how expensive they are.

Also keep this in mind..... a performance car comes at a performance price. If you do it cheap it won't perform, and if it does it won't for long. Didn't you watch Fast & Furious? :)

I don't like being told what to do, and when some aluminium cased box of gears and friction plates tells me that it's time to change up, I really get pissed off. I will decide when it's time to change gears and sometimes I'm right. So the old smarty-pants automatic transmission isn't my best friend

As already stated, if you arent prepared to spend big dollars when you are talking about modifying a GTR then i would suggest maybe selling the car and downgrading to a cheaper car to upkeep and modify, if you are talking turbo upgrade and your budget is only 3-5k and no more than that, you are either going to have to know all the right people in all the right places to do it for that price and make it a reliable good setup ( it can be done, i know i could do it but i know a lot of people to make that happen ) OR you will have a car that gets half way through the upgrade then sits off the road for another 6 months while you save up the coin to finish off the project with the parts you needed that you didnt factor in for... its a common site unfortunately....

GTR`s are a car that from what i have seen cost around $10k a year on top of any finance payments and fuel/rego costs etc. over the time you will own it ( few years to a long time ) to fully upkeep if you drive it even 300km`s a week, tires, servicing, replacement of brake pads and other consumables and an eventual engine rebuild that is ALWAYS part of the deal when talking about RB26`s, and thats not factoring in any modifications to suspension, intake and driveline etc. they are a big budget car, if these numbers worry you sell it now mate. I dont mean to be offensive saying any of this but it is the truth and most that know these cars will vouch for this.

SAY NO TO CHIINA PEOPLE! I won't try and deny that my R has china parts and every time i look at them i cringe. I have learnt that if you do anything on the cheap on a GTR you will eventually have to replace the crap that you bought with a quality item hence having spent 50% more in total than if you had have bought quality in the first place.

Personally I like twins. I figure mister Nissan knows better than me and if he put twins on 26s than that's what should be on them. I went for the HKS 700hp trim GTRS kit. We are making 348RWkw at 19 psi at the moment.

There are advantages of singles but frankly, not on your budget.

in interest of keeping you guys updated, ive just installed a new cusioned button clutch on my GTR NEVER EVER EVER again will I do this lol boy did i learn a thing or two.

definatley having less turbo would have been handy, I will keep the standard setup as basically I am buying a house and 3-5k was a stretch ..... I LOVE the car but unfortanuatly cant afford to make it go faster.

thanks everyone I will just have to settle with how 'god' made it :)
