Bottom line:
1) No one wants to give up their land for this type of behavior *cough* sport.
2) No foreseeable proof of income for the people who owns the land.
3) Its fuggen expensive.

Most grants be it council, state or federal also require funding from yourself to the likes of no less than 50%. They typically will match up to dollar to dollar for what you can fund, but there are also hundreds of other groups applying for that same money.
If you're not aware there was drifting in Cairns for around 18 months, but it got hit on the head unfortunately. It has been given the green light again on the condition of $10,000 bond upfront, which is far more affordable than finding land, going through the garbage you have to go through and then funding construction.
I thought people would have jumped to help raise some bucks, but it has been in the same situation for the last 12 months and not gone any where and as I have many commitments as it is I am unable to try raise the $10,000 myself. 50 people @ $200? 100 people @ $100? Not too much I think but I got things to manage that are regular and supported so my time goes to those events.

It's an expensive notion using a Cart track / Motorkhana track with licencing and that sort of thing, but with enough interest..
Would definately been keen in doing whatever i can do to get it running, because i have seen first hand the impact it has on reducing street drifting etc as people who can go to a legal event give the muppets that do it constantly on the street a roasting, but when no alternative's i guess that what happens.
