Lads and Lasses,

In NSW's there drafting new laws that basically will inhibbit people modifying the beloveds, even to the point of mag wheels. And Older Cars may not be able to be re-regestered as they would not meet the Current years ADR laws, not the ADR laws at the time of manufacture, I thaught it was a joke until I was given a contact of a person involed in the current meetings with the RTA in NSW, He informed that it was very real, but also been kept quite buy the government, At first it was to try and clean up some of the mess involved with some modified cars, IE; Hot Rods and etc as I have seen a hot rod regesterd as a hilux, what the!!

I have tried to find links to online information on this, searched the hell out of the RTA website, and all I found was some talk on another forum, including some of the minutes from one of the meetings, Its a real threat not only to us as a hobby, but to everyone, as its making it easier for car manufacturers to tie up the spare parts industry. If this goes through, the will be alot of people out of work, and alot of people with out cars. We have heard about the importing modified car laws that are starting to kick around, Keep an EYE open on this topic people, everywere you go, see what you can find out, what parties are trying to push these laws, and how we as one can fight for our right to modify our vechiles, eventually, you wont be able to change its colour.

LOL, thats a joke, It would never happen, the government would soon be voted out of power, as there isnt a car on the road that isnt modified in someway.

So the cops wouldnt even be able to have sirens and flashing lights? no bullbars on trucks or 4x4s? lol

IT WILL NOT EVER HAPPEN.

what he said ^^^^ they cannot make u change what is currently legal back to what they would want, because that would mean that all of the above would be outlawed as well, and they are basically safety equipment on alot of cars and 4wd's
The Subaru Impreza is the Automotive equivalent of a decent prostitute.......They perform well, provide a good/thrilling ride but every f*ckers been there and done it already...

I don't like being told what to do, and when some aluminium cased box of gears and friction plates tells me that it's time to change up, I really get pissed off. I will decide when it's time to change gears and sometimes I'm right. So the old smarty-pants automatic transmission isn't my best friend

I highly doubt it.

There would be a considerable backlash from the hundreds of thousands of people employed by the auto industry.

There are sub sections in legislation that specify vehicles which can do certain things, IE; emergency vehicles. Similar to blue and green lights are not able to be used on regular vehicles as they restricted to emergency vehicles.

I don't see how they could pass it still. Seems pretty radical and pointless.

i heard a rumour they are trying to impliment laws to remove vehicles older then 15 years as well ( like in japan )

the cost to do such a thing ( government would have to subsidise people to update their cars ) would be enormous

To my belief Japanese rego was based on age and not cylinders like here, so encouraged people to get a newer vehicle. I could be wrong, but that's what I believed to be the scenario.
