Is there a certain std of legal-ness you are aiming for? Or is it open slather, and if your brave enough to make the drive without getting done by the cops, all will be good? Might be something to consider for the future years of the event, as its probably not a good image to be linked to encouraging cars that could be severley defected.

I'm glad you raised that point. At this stage I am trying my best to keep rules to a minimum so things don't get too complicated and people don't get scared off before this comp really becomes popular. This year there will be a police presence so obviously if you rock up in a car that is over the top blatantly not even close to street legal then your taking a very big risk, and if your car fails the most basic of rules outlined on the first page of this thread then I will not allow it to enter, so people should use common sense over bravery.

Without getting too complicated my long term plan is to gradually tighten up the rules which will be a win win for racers and Police. Racers and the comp itself benefits because it will be a more credible streetcar race, and the Police win because they dont have to worry about us... which means we dont have to worry about them ;)

Two examples for next year are that anything protruding out of the bonnet must be covered by a scoop or cowl, and tyres cannot protrude out past the body of the car (guess I better get that diff shortened before then :) )

Gday Brett, count me in on SC. Been runnin a mix of unleaded and pan drippings but mum said i can have a tank of 98 bp. Thanks 4 your efforts

No worries Kev :) Glad to hear you can make it! 20 places are already taken in RT but that doesnt mean we cant have more in case you decid to throw on some slicks and gas the bejeseus out of the Val ;)

* Double post

This weekend I am going to have a second go at doing the photoshoot for the promo poster, if you think your car is suitable let me know as soon as possible. Preference will be given to entrants cars.

E85 in Street Trim class? This has been a hot topic this year and I've given it much condsideration. My final decision is if you choose to use E85 that is the same octane rating as the E85 that is available at the pump down south then you are welcome to use it in either class. If you are using an E85 blend that is higher than what is currently available at the pump then you are only allowed to compete in Race Trim. THE END!

I think your even keener for this event than I am! :lmao:

I contacted a few of the staff at Palmyra about it and they are going to discuss it at their next meeting, the plan is for me to book the track and take the gate to help offset my costs. So far they seem very 'can do' about the whole idea, and if I can pull it off it may end up generating more interest from the Mackay racers to make the trip up here for the 2011 shootout.

Cheers Matt :) I'll do the rounds in a few days time and drop some into you.

Been thinking about how the date for this clashes with the show n shine you guys wanted to do. Seeing as how most of the races cars will be parked in the under cover garages at the V8 Supercar pits would you guys like to use a section of pit lane to put your cars on show? Some of it will be taken up by racers cars but pit lane is so damn long and wide that we could easily squeeze you guys in as well. Plus we have been given the back of the pits as free parking for the general public and for racers to park & unload their cars from trailers so there will be TONS of room :)

Hey brett, just a few quick ones, street class how are you controlling the no race fuel, and why cant you pull a head light out once you at the track.
also what tyre size limit is there can he run a 295 or 300+ size street slick also can we change suspension when we reach the track.
Just asking for a customer please let me know.

Fuel control - still sussing this one out. At this stage it is largely relying on the honesty of entrants to abide by the rules. As you know race fuels such as MS109 have a very distinct smell so this will be a dead give away. I will have a few jerry cans of BP Ultimate on standby so that if there are any protests over fuel the racer in question can drain his tank and refill it with Ultimate. Not as exact as having the gear to be able to test it but its the best idea I've got at the moment ;)

Removing headlights - I realise this might seem like a handicap to the turbo boys but its under the same rule which says that you can't remove major body panels/parts such as tailgates and seats etc. Mainly because this is a streetcar race and I want cars on the track to not look like they are half falling apart. All the same I'm sure you guys would be able to work out some kind of custom plumbing to help suck cool air in from in front of the radiator.

No limits on tyre size this year.

If you are entering the Street class no you will not be able to change suspension. If you are in the Race class go nuts (regarding our previous discussion in which you wanted to swap intakes the same applies i.e. yes in Race class, no in Street).

After discussions with several drivers this afternoon regarding the headlight rule I will allow it in Race class only, but all cars must have fully functioning headlights etc on the street. I will go back and make sure this is clear on the rules on page 1 of this thread.

Checking timing is fine in either class.

Can you explain more about why you want a different person to drive on the street and another to race?
