but basicly the older guys that are in the club were sick of copping flack over how it was run and decide that they didnt want to do it.

A bunch of us were planning on bringing down some some very nasty yank tanks for a bit of match racing and burnout fun.
I was looking forward to putting my Galaxie up against the purple Plymouth, now that I've got the fuel and gear problems sorted out.
The issues surely can't be a money thing. There seemed to be a good size crowd.
The only thing I could see that was a little bit of an issue amongst the drivers was the long dinner break. Most just wanted to get out there and keep having fun.
I think a 6.30-7 dinner break would have been plenty. Other than that, I had great day.

Fat64, there were a couple of clubsport boys who were continuing to heckle Les and the boys about minor issues on a couple of forums relating to mundoo. They said they would rather drive 4 hours to a decent track , LMAO.
Now there is no mundoo this year, maybe you could get them down to the king of the hill on the 11th november.

I was hoping to get down to Townsville for either the October meet or KOTH. Are you thinking of taking your Plym down for a run?
Looks like it was running great down Makay. Nice couple of shots in the Street Action mag.
Come on guys, can't someone do some sweet talking/groveling/ whatever to get this Mundoo thing happening?

i have been informed that noone would help out Les and the boys with the organising. They wanted to take their cars on the strip themselves but couldnt as they were too busy organising everything else. maybe in future if they were offered a bit more help in the organising and the running of mundoo drags that it might happen next year.
looks like king of the hill is the next best thing

Some people are like slinkies, they don't really have a purpose, But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

My sympathies are with you and your club. I've never run at your airstrip as I've been out of it for a while and I was looking forward to running at one of your 1/8 mile events.
Out of interest I know Les. He bought his ex car "resurrection" off my brother many years ago. Originally that car used to run at Savannah under the name of "Draggin' Fly" with a 6 cylinder Holden. We were intending to fit a 6 cylinder hemi Chrysler but the project was too ambitious for our experience at that time.
As for whingers about 1/8th mile racing these short tracks have their advantages in that they are a real challenge for those who really are drivers. The first 1/8th mile is where all the driving is done. The second 1/8th mile you're really only along for the ride with your right foot nailed increasing speed. There's no real skill unless you're in the sub 10 second class.
Another point I've made elsewhere, these 1/8th mile meetings are a good opportunity for those with lower horsepower cars to mix it with the top guns as there is literally not enough length of track for the hotshots to run down the slower car once they stop spinning.
Out of interest at last year's Ingham 1/8th mile meet I saw a 6.0 second pass by a race car so this is what all of us can aspire to.
At this year's Ingham meeting there was a street WRX that turned a 7.32 from memory and it looked very quick.
Anyway, hope the problems can be sorted at some time in the future and racing can continue in far North Queensland.

Like I said in the other mundoo thread I have never directed my opinions about anyone in particular in the club just the overall orginisation of the entire event. In no way did I ever want anyone to take it to heart, only use my concern an opinion to help improve the event (first step being drop the entrant numbers). I will allways stand by any of the coments I made and would have thought you of all people Jack would understand where I was coming from as you an I have ran together many times at other "events"
ps: I will never step foot into one of the commitee meetings cactus... you know why.
