OK I though I would add a couple of suggestions so here we go.

  • Possible clean up the site and delete some of the old items on the site that are years out of date.
  • Add a section for tuners, like SCT, EFLive and so on where the can add information or discuss issues.
  • Add a mechanical section as in - Engine building, Transmission rebuilds, ect.

Ok well there are a couple of though myself and a couple of friends come up with, you could try them and they get no support it would be easy to just remove them but I think it could draw more support and users to the site.

Ken.

mechanical section is already the technical section isnt it? thats also where the tuner info could go.......there isnt enuf traffic on the forum as of late to justify new sections IMO, not saying it isnt a good idea, but just no point atm

Ok fair comment but I was thinking along the lines of creating more interest by creating actual specific areas for example a tuners section and not try to combine several items under one topic.

I know I would prefer to go to a set topic area rather then try and read several different items in the one area.

I don't believe that housing several topic under the topic of technical is practical.

The site need to create more interest to gain more viewers or it will slowly become less and less supported.

After all its not that big a thing to simple add a couple of more topic areas just a stroke on a few keys.

Cheers

yeh, there are upsides to it so i agree with you there, in all honesty i think the only way there is going to be more people getting on the site is to have more cruises and events, like there used to be, seems the car scene is no longer up here :(

how about making some picture threads like pic of the day where you can post any sort of picture at all and automotive photography nice photos of cars. i know there is a picture section already but making sticky threads will put more traffic in the forums.

I can't say much for outside of Cairns, but the scene sure has died here over the last 10 years. Less public outings, less events, less support. The reason for that is anyone's guess.

With regards to the forum? Too many ideas and not enough action. Not having a go at the previous posters as it is obvious you're keen to see the place thrive which is excellent, but why doesn't someone organise a cruise? Why doesn't someone post a topic EFILive? What doesn't someone post a topic on cool photos of the day/week/month, whatever? There have been these topics for years, but I wonder why people don't post their ideas in a new thread rather than reply with an idea? You guys are the life of QSS. It is what you make it. The more people contribute the more others can have their input on and the community thrives. If I can do something to stir up more interest I would. I often post videos or auto related news, or whatever, but often get few or no replies.

If certain people seem to contribute a lot they can be promoter to moderators of the desired section to run and maintain it. It would be good to see someone contribute and encourage others to get in on a section.

Hosting aside, I've spent a substantial amount of money on this community over previous years. I think its prime was in around 2008-2009 but seems people are losing interest, or whatever. Either way it has been 5 years since the forum was opened. Traffic wise it hasn't really changed in 2-3 years. It hasn't gone backwards, but still there is less contributions than there used to be.

There is hundreds, if not thousands, of car nuts on here but few have much to say. The potential for an awesome community of car enthusiasts is there, but not being harnessed. Blame whatever you like, but ultimately, the members make the forum. I just put the tool there for people to use. It's up to the scene to support or neglect it.

If people have ideas they think would contribute to the forum I am happy to spend the time/money on it.
