Yes get a RWC , an invoice for the value of the car( your own hand writen one) swap them , go to the transport dept pay your stamp duty and its all done, its the same as buying a car.

I don't like being told what to do, and when some aluminium cased box of gears and friction plates tells me that it's time to change up, I really get pissed off. I will decide when it's time to change gears and sometimes I'm right. So the old smarty-pants automatic transmission isn't my best friend

Stamp duty is payable on market value or amount paid, whichever is the greater. Government departments may not be good at much, but they are good at getting money out of people.

Exactly my thoughts. Say you bought a Commodore for $5000 that had a clapped out motor, shit paint etc but the market value is $15000. You then put a new motor in it and give it a respray & panel beating, spending $10,000 in the process. It's then worth market value again. How can they then only pay out $5000 when the car is worth $15000?
*edit* well obviously it would have to be in roadworthy condition with an RWC or else you wouldn't be transferring rego and paying stamp duty however the condition of the vehicle, kms traveled etc could mean a lot of money might be spent getting it back into good condition.
