Hey all. Was just curious what are some ideas for a non turbo Drifter as i need to be able to drive to and from events.
i was thinking an r31. Possibly until i get off my p's and get a s13 later.
Any other ideas?
is it worth getting a falcon or commodore? or are they not suited at all?

nah not suited man, they are too big and floaty and need mass suspension work to remove bodyroll.. as you said, just pick up an r31, chop the springs, lock the diff and off you go..
Swiftpimp says: ima hafta bring the swift up and give the civ a run i feel ;) ...

Pimp-STi says: Sweet, I'll film it. I have a really cool program that will speed it up and make it look interesting.

I bet its a VP V10 blown twin over head dick fingerers with full drag spec drive line ans supersonic windscreen wipers. Be sure to check under the seat for some pirate gold as i hear these cars are THAT rare.

If you're serious about drifting do away with the stock LSD and get something decent.

NA 300ZX?

The short wheelbase model (lighter)

Should be enough power to learn with. Spend some money on suspension. Good luck finding one that hasnt already been thrashed though.

The cheapest, nastiest, barely roadworthy RWD car you can find.

That way you won't shed too many tears WHEN you gutter it and bend shit. Notice I said 'when' not 'if'. This is the reality of drifting :)

hpi or fast fours did a budget drifter using an r31 way back when, all they did was coilovers, welded diff and some small breathing mods to make it run better, and it was a good little car apparently, dunno how long it lasted but it served its purpose at the time
The Subaru Impreza is the Automotive equivalent of a decent prostitute.......They perform well, provide a good/thrilling ride but every f*ckers been there and done it already...

I don't like being told what to do, and when some aluminium cased box of gears and friction plates tells me that it's time to change up, I really get pissed off. I will decide when it's time to change gears and sometimes I'm right. So the old smarty-pants automatic transmission isn't my best friend

I just need to find an R31 in decent condition haha
or 300zx :D

I should just buy an ae86 then paint it white and black and sell for an extra 5 grand o.0
and yeah i think id prefer to spend money on an r31 so it wont bother me as much when i crash it Posted Image

i have heard r31 dont need to much work to get running well

go the r31, a mate just bought one and it goes really well with hardly any mods. its actaully iadore4door34s old one. mate has done abit to it but throwing in a built rb30.

If you wanna drift, i would change diff gears to 4.11 with mini spool, upgrade to stiffer n lower suspenion and everyone wants more power so exhaust/extractors, cam, chip computer, port/hi flow the head, xf throttle body, tune..should see around 150-160kw atw

As for parts and info on the r31 its all over the net.

Wow, I wonder if he has the budget for that kinda power. I doubt you'd see anything like that cheap... considering a few of the guys over on the 31sc have had a crack staying NA, ones spent upwards of 20k and just hit 140rwkw, but from your mods list, good luck.

But if you're looking for a great 31 site,http://motamota.r31s...b.com/news.html , the info section is packed with all the stuff you'll need and more, then there is the forums as well. If you've got irc of some kind I'm in their channel most nights.
