A big point seems to be the mess left behind.(also alcohol consumed when they would not be liscenced area on a burnout night.)
Seems to me it needs alot of self policing amongst attendees.Volunteers are needed to do the work the Committee normally does.
If the cost to the committeee is minimal then maybe they will allow the burnouts to proceed "at cost price"
I think $5.00 per head is reasonable for both entrants and spectators for 2 hours of entertainment.

That said, if people did spend some time to clean up after them selves maybe it would go a head. I know at previous events QSS has hosted people have left rubbish behind for the QSS Staff to clean up. This is made worse because our events are in a PUBLUC area and only puts a bad name on us. It doesn't take much to put your rubbish in a bin instead of tossing it on the ground. You may think "hey! it's only one can!", but 150+ doing that is a lot of rubbish to clean up.
Look after the Speedway and they SHOULD look after you.
Oh, and if anyone has a clip from Thursdays (I think) paper about an article targetting 'hoons' with stickers could you please post that up? I heard they are targetting CMW and utes with Jet Pilot stickers.

if peter roggenkamp has it his way there will be no street meets at speedway anymore he hates young hoons, and as for how peter said speedway is a $ 2 million complex , the edmonton speedway is a dump not some flash motor sport complex

The speedway isnt much yes i agree compared to down south; but it is all the far north has, and it has been around for a long time. It is very popular and we do get quite alot of people come up from down south to compete so it cant be that bad?
Im guessing that he is against all the 'hoons' using it because we dont clean up after ourselves. I know Peter and he is not a bad bloke, if ya could get enough support and people who actually turn up (not just say they will) then possibly get enough money to justify the expenses of using the grounds then the committee would possibly agree to it.
Im keen as for it. I will be there to support if it happens again, good luck with it all.

I think the only reason Roggenkamp didn't want people there is because he wasn't going to make any money out of it. He gets a commission from every single person who passes through that gate for other events. He's already upset most people who belong to the speedway club, so much that they've parked their cars - don't want to give him their money! Before he came along, the speedway had a major improvement every year. Now, he's pocketed it. The Speedway insurance covers major burnout-comps every year, and, test-n-tune nights. The Cairns Post & Qld Police have encouraged everyone to go there. Maybe he might have to do some work!

im sorry to burst ya bubble mate... when the burnouts were organised and went ahead 3 weeks ago... 185 people walked thru those gates, people who had not yet been notified that were located at the boat ramp last thursday, equalled about 70/80/90 or more ppl, then u include the people who knew the burnouts werent on which woulda equalled more than 100...
i am willing to pay $10 for entry as well as participate,
and i think if there are people only spectating then they should only be charged $5. why pay more... $2 from the last event covered the "electricity" by far.
very well said neridaincairns, its very true...
NATEVL - if you want to go and talk to Hedley yeh go for it. But i suggest you take a petition with you or some thing. Do something like i am doin with the burnouts... or ill do up another Petition. Because ill tell you right now, Heldley wont be throwing out money to no one unless there is proof that theres support and back up from someone in the Government or someone high up. I can get Hedleys mobile number off my dad, no im not goin to pass it out, my dad's work does civil construction for Hedley so im sure i can get some support from my dads boss (who im contracted out too) that if Hedley approves it, that my dads work can do all the earthworks.

To keep it short Roggenkamps main points were
They have regular burnout nights (next is this saturday) @$15.00 per head entry
$10.00 per car if you want to fry rubber
Both seemed to think $2.00 entry was a joke to cover opening expenses such as lighting. (no mention of rubbish cleanup)
Roggenkamp said this was not too expensive as young people probably pay that much every thursday night for a couple of hamburgers and a thickshake where they congregate at Macdonalds?
Roggenkamp said he too used to park and talk cars with his friends in town when he was 17 so its nothing new.
Mckenzie thought it was real funny that someone phoned Roggo to abuse him because he needed somewhere to do burnouts cos he had lost points doing it illegally (I think everyone agrees phone calls like that are pretty lame and dont help the cause.)
Roggo went to pains to explain it is not his decision alone but the committees decision collectively. he just has to enact it, (suppose we will never know unless we are at a meeting)
The end result so far is the next official burnout comp is Sat night at costs as above with $1300.00 prizemoney offered.
The committee will be having a meeting with Sergeant Tony Anderson and Chomp within a week to discuss the regular burnouts further.
Can I suggest everyone that is interested in going to burnouts regularly give some type of indication as to what they are prepared to pay enrty and registration.
$5.00 $10.00 or $15.00 SERIOUS...DONT BE TIGHT ARS#$% or you will miss out altogether.
Mabe chloe you could start a new thread with a poll on various prices.
Then Chomp and Tony have some sort of idea to present as to what people are prepared to fork out.
