So the World time attack is on once again at eastern creek and so far the quickest lap times are almost a full 2 seconds quicker than last year

does anyone know the lap records for v8 supercars there and how do they compare?

Current top 3 standings are
1. Tarzan Yamada – Cyber Evo ( JAP ) 1:28.8510*
2. David Empringham – Sierra Sierra 1:29.0240
3. Mitsuhiro Kinoshita – Garage Revolution ( JAP ) 1:30.5010

Some V8 boys went 130 somthing in testing a little while ago.....since last WTAC anyway that took back the record from the cyber evo's time from last year. When I went to last years WTAC they were saying how the Cyber evo had beaten the V8SC qualifing record that mark skaife set. Apparently they broke the V8 time again last weekend.

Something else to note to is some of the approns on the outsides of the corners at EC have been widened with concrete since last year which was allowing the cars to run a little bit wider and hold more speed. Defo not 2 seconds in it but it definatly helps corner speed out of turn 5 and also a bit on 11 and 12. Probably where a v8 would pick up half a second or so.

Probably more impressive is the fact that the top WTAC cars are faster than the top sports sedans like Audi A4-Chevrolet which holds the track record at 129.1 set only last month and that was on big sticky slicks and without the restrictions of the V8s making the Cyber evo the fastest tin top touring car ever around EC....on r compund road tyres no less. Impressive stuff.
