Hi Guys,

it's that time of the year again and I'm starting to organise (bit late this year) this year's Movember car cruise.

I am looking for any suggestions you might have about a destination to cruise to.

Needs to be fairly open (we've had 40-50 cars last couple of years), plenty of parking, also an area for a BBQ etc.

I'd prefer somewhere within an hour's drive of Cairns (with the roadworks last year, Innisfail was just a tad too far).

can be a schoolground, park, destination etc.

Hoping to get things up and running by this weekend, with flyers etc starting to be distributed by the start of November.

Hit me with the ideas people. Once we get it sorted, I'll start a proper thread. Hoping for bigger and better this year again.

I seem to recall a few years ago there was a combined car club cruise to a park in the centre of Gordonvale? From the reports I heard that was a good run?

yeah, I went to that one, and that park is already on our list of possibles... it was a good space, plenty of parking and room.

not long enuf of a "cruise" tho IMO, it should be more about the cruising to a destination that people dont always go to, not all about the piss up at the end lol, why not make it long, not boring long, but somewhere like innisfail, mossman, port douglas etc? just a suggestion, i may be the only one keen for a long cruise, but its used to be awesum fun with 50+ cars on a long cruise on a nice sunny day, i wouldnt bother coming to drive from gordonvale, to smithfield, to cruise back to gordonvale if you get what im saying lol, not being negative, but this could possibly spark a new beginning (so to speak) in the local car scene if its huge and successful, im keen to throw around some flyers Naze, il put some up at work, so drop sum in once there done if u get time, or il come grab some from you, whatever works

ellis would be good if there was more room for parking, seems to be taken up by bikers these days lol

Ellis has always been an option, but yeah, not really enough space. And it's gotta be somewhere we can have a BBQ. Ellis is basically all about the pub there so not sure they'd be keen on us taking all their customer parking. Id love to do a tablelands run somewhere but cruises up the range are always iffy with a few cars.

i reckon tablelands, via the rex range, did it once with the skyline lads and it was awesome, even make a stop half way for everyone to catch up?

Peeramon Pub is a good location. Heaps of parking, good food at a decent price and its a nice drive. I do like the combined club idea at Gordonvale though.
