Hiding in the grass when ever a car truck or what ever came yeah that was fun, man the memories were of chaos, people letting of dry ice bombs and all that sort off silliness but at least no one got hurt it was out of harms way shame it still don't happen once in a while

I remember the "big one" in front of the pub. Remeber all the police and udercover doods were too scared to approach all us "drunken mad men". Still, they had the last laugh when we left, and busted everyone for stupid things. My missus got done for a stone chip in her windscreen and a mate got done for no water in his washer bottle. Jees i still remeber the hangover.

They were the good old days, plenty of cars, plenty of people willing to have a race, good fun.
There was actually 4 different tracks used over the years, who else can remember all of them? In the early days we used to go up there more regulary than once a year, tapered of towards the end though.

The classic was having to jumpstart the coppers 4wd after they busted us one night. Then off to Malanda to continue where we left off

Apart from the police turning up and spoiling the turn outs occasionally I can't remember one instance where any one got hurt or anything to that affect. it was good to see something where so many people turned up to could happen without having all the hassles of organizers and promoters and it could take place in a fun environment where every one went away happy it was always the talking point for weeks after. Those days were cool

I've still got one, they were the days, another funny one was when the Activ8 ute turned up was unloaded off the trailer jacked up changed the wheels, let down off the jack, then the cops turned up so while every one was running off madly he just jacked it back up put the other wheels back on put it back on hte trailer then just drove off, didn't get stopped or nothing the cops were to busy chasing every one else

The carbine meets started in 1991, the first quarter was at the cattle grid just north of luster creek, that reminds me of the busted up old HQ that had slowed down to see what was going on & when he rattled over the grid his spot lights fell out on the road & smashed, this guy must have went home rang the cops & reported that someone had shot his spoties out wtf, he also gave the cops a discription of my car(i was right beside the road ready to have a run). The next weekend we went up was when the cop from MT MOLLOY turned up, i got the blame for "shooting this guys spotties out", got my first machinery ticket in proberly the most standard & roadworthy car that was there & the jump starting the cop car incident happened.
The next quarter was right at luster creek, had quite a few good nights racing there don't even remember the cops busting us on any of those nights, i do remember having to pull my gearbox out on the side of the road one night to retighten the flywheel that had come loose, then back to racing.
From there to racing in front of the pub, never made it to that night, got turned around by the cops before we could even get there, f*#k the cops.
The last time i went racing up that way (about 10klms north of CARBINE) was somtime in 2002 i think(correct me if i'm wrong) it was a much more low key event, just people who wanted to race, a couple cars even got trailered up, no cops to be seen, very good night of racing was had by all.
