Don't worry Deano keep saving your dollars, any ways Dingo still needs your help when he's down there racing.

Dial your own racing is a handicap system where you nominate the time you think it wil take your car to get to the other end. First accross the line on the safe side of your dial in wins. In the event of a dual break out closest to the dial in wins. You normally get 3 qualifying passes at a major event so as to guage what or how your car is running from there you can make your estimate. Racing is normally eliminations who ever wins all of the eliminations progresses on to the finals etc. There are a few other little rules in there but thats the basics.

Safe Side is spot on your dial in or slower. If you go quicker, than its called a breakout and you lose, unless your opponent also breaks out. Then the winner is whoever broke out by the least amount. Also there is first or worst rule. Whoever commits the rule infrigement first or whoever commits the worst. Crossing centre line or boundary lines on side of track is considered to be the worst. So if you redlight at the beginning of a race and your opponent crosses the centreline then you are reinstated as the winner.

King of the Hill used to be run on eliminations-That is if you lose the race then pack up, put it on the trailer and become a spectator for the rest of the night. But for the last 10 years or so that i can remeber it has run on Shootout. Shootout is everyone runs the however many rounds there are(usually 3) You get points for a win and points for a lose. The top pointscorers go into the finals. If there is more than 2 contenders then a count back is done over all rounds to see who has run closest to there dial in without breaking out.

The secret is knowing your car and your reactions, do the same thing round after round, and run consistently on your dial in. In the past i have missed out on getting into the finals by 1000th of a second.

I would suggest getting to the street meets. Get plenty of practice at the startline and get to know exactly what your car/bike will do. There is a drag meeting in two weeks. Have a go then, so your, a bit in the know before tackling King of the Hill. Usually all the streeters come out of the woodwork for that meeting, alot of once a year racers. Get on to the dragstrips web site or ring them 07 47796879 for details.

King of the hill has an extra round (4). The bracket is split into 4, the top pointscorer of each,go into semi finals to get the two finalist. Last year there was 50 in the one bracket. Good racing. Heaps of fun. :P
