In Street Machine this month they talk a new start line propccedure that was introduced by ANDRA in September. In the past you could do a burnout then light up both of the top whites and your opponent had 20 seconds to stage or be dicqualified. The new ANDRA start line proceedure has cut that time from 20 seconds to 10 seconds. How ever niether racer can go into full stage until one of them has pre staged.
I belive this is a good idea as it will put a stop to inconsiderate racers with the win at all cost additude. We've all seen them, the people who don't do burnouts and go straight into staging.
And before you all go and get on ya high hores I'm not having a crack at front or 4 wheel drive cars here either. Just because you're not doing a burn out does'nt mean you have immediatly go into full stage, so your opponent has f**k all time to do a burnout and then go into full stage, I belive that is more of a sportsmanship issue.

Rod just going back to your point about going to street meets to practise, i have been to several street meets and the problem with going to them is that when you are at a street meet the 20 sec does not get used. If someone in a 4wd car goes to a street meet and comes up against a RWD car the starter just waits till both cars are in stage, doesnt matter how long it takes, which i dare say is what happened at KOTH, Dane (i think that is his name) obviously thought that you would just wait till both cars were in full stage to throw the switch. But if he had known the rule my guess is he would have just gone into pre-stage and waited.
Spot on
Always done it that way and never knew any better.
Do now.
I had a chat to the officials on sat night RE: the 20 sec rule. and a few other things.
All sweet now.......

IMO street meets are for testing and just grudge racin. Big drag meets are competition. So there shouldnt be any need for 20 sec rule. So in any sport when the competiton is on, then all rules are applied. I know if i started racing at street meets for my very first time ever, and got smacked with a whole heap of rules before i found out if i liked the sport as a competitor or not - i would say stick that and race on the street where theres no rules.
So introduce the guys and girls into the sport and when they feel the need to step up to competition then they should take the time to find out what the go is as far as rules and regulations go before entering. Pretty simple i reckon.
