this is probably a dumb question but why can't I put my bike against a car at the street meet? the only logical reason is if the car crosses the centre line.

as far as i know to the best of knowledge andra made it a rule for safety reasons, they used to race bikes against cars, so townsville does the same. also i have seen many a bike cross in front of a car, so i think it is mainly safety. for both

that sucks I wanna show up a couple mates with their fully sick v6's on my 400 dirt bike.

next question

Is there a limit on how much of the bonnet you can cut away cause my T4's and the carbs along with a fair amount of plumbing will be above the bonnet on the gemini. OR do I need a gay looking scoop to covour it all?

Everyone knows TSV Dragway is not ANDRA, this doesn't mean they can't follow some of the ANDRA rules. There are many rules, ANDRA or not, to be followed by all that attend.

well i hope you are not gay, but everyone to them selves just joking, no there is no rule, but as long as the fuel lines are below bonnet line or use of braided fuel lines. to be safe for you, it would be a help to fit a bonnet scoop ... there is a set height for scoop,, that you can go by . i will find out for you.

You'll find the "gay" bonnet scoops are often there for good reason.
At higher speeds it's very possible for the wind rushing over the top of an open carb to actually vacuum air away from your intake and cause a high speed leanout.
We've actually had this problem with sidedraft carbs on a 6cyl T-bucket.
If you don't like the idea of a bonnet scoop then maybe something like a bug catcher is worth considering.

sorry I just dont like the look of them. I should probably be more clear with my question. I have a 253 that is supporting 2 T4's in a gemini. Both the intake and the turbos top surface will be about 7 - 8 inches above the bonnet line and there will be about 3/4 of the bonnets centre removed. since the turbos are either side of the carby the outer edge of the turbos will be about 4 inches from the bonnet edge. to throw a spanner in the works I have done a tilt - lift off front end so there will be a significant amount of material removed from behind the motor too. Do I need some weird lookin fibreglass covor that will look like the back end of a jet fighter or can I leave the braided lines (fuel and turbo oil lines) hanging out of a big hole?

I started to do a pick with paint but I couldn't even understand it in the end.

So you have the bonnet welded to the guards, and the bonnet from the top looks like it has a big C taken out of it?

Why not build up the whole bonnet instead of a scoop?

Certainly not a dumb question. There has always been a risk when a bike is running alongside a vehicle - street meet or qualifying in major race meeting.

There is the potential of serious injury to the BIKE RIDER if the bike goes down. The rider has very little control of how they fall and where they are rolling or sliding.

This was clearly demonstrated (back in the very early 1990's I think) here at TD when a rider lost control in the deep end. Thankfully she (yes, a girl with some experience too) was not critically injured but did have injuries. She could have been very easily run over by the vehicle in the other lane. TD stopped paring the bikes with cars.

Soon after the rules were changed.
