Hey guys. ummm ill get straight to it. i got a Holden rodeo, petrol, 2.6L dual cab. extractors, factory everything else. I plan to add a supercharger in the very near future, just wondering if there would be anything to look out for, or need to change/modify. the supercharger i had in mind was off a MR 2/ AE86 style. i cant go for anything massive like powerdrome(however you spell it) as i am only a first year apprentice and yeh they dont get to much... i just want some more power to run mid 15's. i currently run 18.975 at 70 mph. with a chirp in second. ANY opinon would be greatly appreciated, help would be loved. thanks Karl.

maybe change the motor to like a vs ecotec then it will move.... there would be alot of work involved in supercharger the rodeo... mounting brackets.... i'd probably do a engine conversion either way your gonna need engeerning cert...

how much are you willing to spend??? if you want to go all out theres a rodeo in this months zoom magazine, beware some big $$$ there, if you did go the supercharger route you will at some point need bigger injectors
however you may be able to get away with stockies if you use a rising rate fuel regulator (7:1 ) for every psi of boost you will get 7psi of rail pressure :P

have a read of the zoom mag if it was me however maybe a 350 chev v8 might be what the doctor ordered :P with a pair of GT25/35 turbos

i think traction might be an issue then  i am not sure if they have anything, but contact castlemaine rod shop and see if they have a kit for your rodeo...never know, but failing that, i tend to agree with morgan about the v6 swap...even if it's a later model rodeo v6 engine

Probably the first thing you should do after you buy the supercharger is throw it in the bin and buy a decent turbo.

Superchargers need big engines to be effective because of the power loss just to run the SC.

i disagree with that theory. take the 4agze engine for example.. small capacity and it has a supercharger on it? goes alright i rekkon..

the idea of an engine swap is good, but its way too much work. im just after some bolt on options... after i get a new car then ill drop a 720 hemi in it HAHA nah prolly a 350. but yeh i dont mind about the traction loss, i dont think many people do. how much work is involved in putting a turbo on it? i dont really wanna change exhaust and all that stuff, i just thought a supercharger would be an easy option as i could keep the extractors and just have instant power no turbo lag. but yeh thanks for all the advice so far im learning alot from just readin all the forums
did anyone see my truck at the bohle drags on the weekend just gone?

I can understand where Bril is coming from mate, Superchargers need a decent amount of power to drive them and the 4AGZE engine has a tiny S/C and doenst need to make much power and torque becaUSE of the light chassis it is in. A Rodeo would need significant torque to get things happening. And the amount you wil lose by driving a S/C big enough to do the job will probably be the downfall of the project IMO. Superchargers in heavy cars need V6`s or V8`s driving them so they dont "kill" the engines bottom end pickup.

hey dude why not just work the motor. pistons and rods will have to be changed any way (if you want reliability). Depending on your compression ratio you might be looking a big bucks for the charger.

I have found in researching for my gemini that for the best ballance for reliability and performance is that any forced induction motor should be roughly 8.5 to 1 comp ratio. so you may need to drop yours to fit a blower or turbo.

On the other hand theres a wrecker in town here with a vs that was T-boned and written off. They want $1500 and it will have every thing you need.

Check your motor and keep researching.
