hey guys, as some of you might know i am attempting the rb26/30 conversion... i have talked to dan from autobarn about it and he said that people have tried but have never completed it... now what i need help with is... getting an rb26 head.... well actually everything except the block....

or do you guys think it would be cheaper buying a half cut and hook in?

anyways just reply your thoughts, but dont reply about changing my mind  going to look forward at doing this project..

i got an rb30 pretty good condition, has never had a rebuild so yeh just pulling the engine out and ripping her apart then its off to the shop

one other thing... is there any difference between the rb30de and rb30det? besides the oil and water ports of the side of the block for the turbo?

cheers, chris

It is rare, but not unheard of... not never completed as Dan from Autobarn said. There is a guy up in Cairns also that has done the 25/30 build pictured below....

If you want I can put you in contact with the guy who built this in Cairns.

the standard 3.0ltr pistons already have the recess cut into them so you can put the head on with out to much modification.. but while it is apart i do suggest getting a forged pistons.. If you can afford it!!

GO THE COMBO!!!

man if your gunna head the cheapie route, then REPCO Is your best friend

there is nothing wrong with using ACL pistons e.t.c, as far as rings go i would go OEM nissan, nothing wrong with them and they can handle a fair bit

Shell bearings good idea is again OEM, Acl equiv will be fine

depending how much power you want to make and for how much money you got to spend

OEM rods are fine provided they are shot peened
bascially for parts your lookin at 1k (acl pistons, rings, full gasket kit), OEM nissan head gasket can hold 3 bar boost (not like your gunna see this anyway), better opting for a metal head gasket and while your at it for get the block o-ringed (cheap as chips and might as well get this done at the same time),

bascially your just goin to need the head

not much difference between NA and ET blockes, Series II NA and turbo have the SAME OIL AND WATER feeds/returns (the holes are already tapped just plugged),

i did a very bare basic buildup using a Stock NA engine

just threw in a set of new rings, gasket kit, Turbo injectors, And a hi flow T3/T4 turbo, (the car is auto), never tuned just do burnouts now and then, when i get some more time on my hands ill have it completed, good luck

if you want someone in cairns to build the engine, repco cairns have a good rep, plus my housemate works there and they have built a few of the locals engines (and not talking crap camry's e.t.c either),

thanks alot for the input guys... its so amazing how easy it is to get a hold of some things *heads* every other person i have talked to has been saying "oh they are so hard to get a hold of and your looking at around $3500 completed head or $1800 for a bare head".

This project is going to be cheaper than what i thought

Can i ask if your keen to go the "cheapie option" why bother with the 26 head? Unless you want a bazillion kilowats the 25 heads are sufficient, and its a much more well travelled route.
As for the differences in blocks, there's no difference between most RB30E and RB30ET blocks. But there were 2 series of RB30E, series 1 don't have revisions for oil and water plumbing. series 2 RB30E do have revisions.
I can't be bothered to look up all the links for you, but go on Skylines Australia and search around a bit. Hybrid 25/30s and 26/30s have been done heaps.. There's a sticky thread there with countless pages and a diy guide.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...opic=93854&st=0

If your dead set on a 26 head, that link might be a cheap, easy option at $9300.. But you'll need to sort out a sump, seeing as how thats setup for a dry sump. Read the thread the motor has a lot of big dollar components, but its pickup (i'm sure you might be able to negotiate freight with him)
