Mod plates are required when modifying something that the Transport Dept. deems it reuiqres a mod plate. For example. replacing the engine with a non-factory engine, or aftermarket seats.

The blue plate is given by an engineer that is blue plate licensed, not any old engineer can give you the plate.

Things that are ADR approved do not require a mod plate. As for costs, it depends on what the modification is I believe, I am sure someone with a bit more knowledge in the area (possible Ian) can shed more light on this.

mod plate issuers aren't licenced to mod for all things either. some do mod plates for certain mods, others do seperate mod plates for other things. standard mod plate costs about 66 bucks for the inspection and plate. i understand different mods cost differing amounts, but am yet to confirm that. the department of transport can give you a list of engineers/mod plate issuers in your town.

My neighbour can do mod plates, if you want me to find out I could ask him sometime. Did the Sprinters come out supercharged? I don't think they did but I could be wrong.

hmmmm... well im 100% sure mi exhaust is under the the dB reading, because the guy who did my exhaust told me he wont sell me an exhaust thats to loud because he will get fined for it aswell as me, and he chekd it and its under, so is it worth geting a mod plate? or not cos im plan to do way more mods to mi car...

I have got a feeling LO1 could be something to do with import, I am pretty sure that 4AGZE sprinters were not released in Australia, out of interest LA1 is for a different engine or a modifed engine, you only need it if you have done an engine conversion or if you have turboed/supercharged your old engine.

www.ppq.com.au

has all the pricing for personalised plates. upgrading existing 3x3 combo not sure of, but it $80 to get a new set if some1 swipes them so i would hazard a guess that getting a 1 of ur current plates remade in a slimline would be the same price.
