This has been an inactive area for a while, but I thought I would post some pics I have gathered of the floods in Mackay yesterday. We got 1/3 of our annual yearly rainfall in 6 hours.

There was pretty well at least 4 inches of water driving on any road in Mackay yesterday morning.

Yeah, there was whole estate's that had to get evacuated by boat... It's really very sad. We have a few people staying at mum's house. Alot of people don't have flood insurance, most cause they can't be insured for flood damage as the concil knows its a flood prone area.

Rain is still heavy today - winds r pretty strong!

Instead of taking 5 mins to get to work, it now takes me 20-30!
The main road i take to work is still over!

far out
some good pics there, thats crazy how much water's around the place!..

yea, 2wd cars shouldn't be tryna do anything..

my parents were always having to drag peoples cars thru floodwaters near their farm with the tractor.. idiots dont listen to the 'road closed while flooded' signs etc.. you'd think the crocodile signs would be enough to deter people too, but it never did..

Help! I've fallen and I can't...Hey, nice carpet.

I have a few mates in mackay who have sent me some pics of everything.

I got some photos of the estate behind magpies footy club, that has Wheeler drive as it's main street. Thats terrible eh.

I used to live on that street and actually recognise a few of the houses that are under.

what gets me is seeing people in ANY car trying to ford water that is about the depth of 2 feet, with that amount of water the sheer force of it flowing is enough to move a car..... even if it is still, nothing saying that the road has collapsed beneath the surface and has a 20ft sinkhole big enough to swallow a bus....... I shake my head everytime some dumbass tries to chance his/her life and that of others to get across the water. The expense of rescuing this stupid idiotic people is not cheap and hopefully it is compulsory that upon resonable doubt that these people premeditatedly and purposefully drove the car and got into that situation should foot the entire bill for the rescue plan. When push comes to shove I would rather see someone miss taking the kids to school for one day rather than having to go to thier funeral the next..... it really f**king annoys me.... hope other people are unimpressed by the stupidity of some people these days.... mad.gif

I don't like being told what to do, and when some aluminium cased box of gears and friction plates tells me that it's time to change up, I really get pissed off. I will decide when it's time to change gears and sometimes I'm right. So the old smarty-pants automatic transmission isn't my best friend

Insurance people are still doing the rounds looking after claims. 1400 cars are on their way to Townsville and Brisbane auctions.

The wet weather has returned. But apparantly no more flooding.
